According to you, Trump turned the US into a "a flaming dumpster fire" that Biden was able to save from economic depression and a covid mass culling - AND YET - with that collective memory and current experience from the US public - he goes on a historic landslide victory just 4 years later.

And yet, just 4 years later, not only does he win, he is brought back in a landslide.
Do people think he learned to be a better president in the 4 years since 2020? No.
It is just that the Democrats have become unimaginable BAD.

Or, we can go with the alternative explanations:

1.) Trump was not a bad president in his 1st term
2.) 2020 was not a legitimate election

For, me, I think it a bit of all three explanations.

The demographics of the country have complete changed since that time. Given the current demographics, what Trump did was a historic landslide.

But, do explain how Trump was able to accomplish this given his track record? Please be sure to include how this did not require the Democrats to adopt terrible, unpopular policies.

If the US racial demographics were the same as 1984 and the racial groups voted the same way they did in 2024, Trump would have won by ~6% nationally.

Just take CA as an example, CA is now only 34.7% White Non-Hispanic vs. 66.6% in 1984. Bring back the 1984 Demographics and Trump wins CA as well - which is why the Democrats are so hellbent on the 'browning' of America.
