President Donald Trump's handpicked board voted Thursday to rename Washington's leading performing arts center as the Trump-Kennedy Center, the White House said. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the vote on social media, saying it was because of the "unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building. Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation." Trump, a Republican, often refers to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which is named for a Democratic predecessor, as the "Trump Kennedy Center."
@#4 ... Why put his name on this facility? ...
My guess is that he likes putting his name on things.
WH press flak Karoline Leavitt, enthused on X : "Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future!" (newrepublic.com)
President John F. Kennedy was murdered in 1963.
For the past 62-years he has been what he will forever be: stone cold dead.
Would someone in MAGAtLand please inform Ms. Leavitt?
The name "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" was enacted by Public Law 88-260 by https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/remarks-upon-signing-bill-concerning-the-john-f-kennedy-
center-for-the-performing-arts by President Johnson.
Changing the name required an act of Congress. The Board has no power to change the name.
