Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, February 04, 2024

Over 800 serving officials in the US and Europe have released a statement expressing apprehension that their governments' policies concerning the Israel-Gaza conflict could amount to "grave violations of international law." The signatories comprise civil servants from the US, the EU, and 11 European countries, including the UK, France, and Germany. A US government official with more than 25 years of national security experience said, "What's really different here is we're not failing to prevent something, we're actively complicit. That is fundamentally different from any other situation I can recall."

The whole point of international law is to be able to enforce it. Terrorists should be tried and convicted/acquitted. No government wants this, because they can play their war games instead. None of this will end until we have actual, international law. International law has failed repeatedly, in Rwanda, Syria, Iraq, Tibet, New York, Afghanistan, Crimea, Serbia...on and on it goes.

If there was an enforcement capability, outside of how big the military of a country is, we'd at least see criminals being held accountable. But there's not. "Public opinion" isn't it.

I never could understand the concept of "International Law". How do you enforce your law on a sovereign country? The only way I see is war, or some kind of military intervention.

Think of it this way.

How would WW2 have turned out if America was funding Nazi Germany.

Here. Read this sentence carefully and see if it helps:

"What's really different here is we're not failing to prevent something, we're actively complicit."

Lol enforcing laws?

Hilarious.

800 diplomats sounds a lot like 50 former intelligence officials.

This sort of tactic is seen by intelligent people for what it is, worthless.

7. How do you see it? You've covered only one part of the population.

OneTinyNut would have let the Nazis off the hook after WWII.

Lemme guess. The proposed solution is the complete eradication of Jews.

"The Nazis could have invaded Poland and Russia without Switzerland. They could not have done so without GM."

but the "Jews are Nazis" is silly and played out. If the Jews were Nazis, it would look like the Ostfront and there would be very few Palestinians left.
