... The address to thousands of NRA members at the group's annual Leadership Forum in Dallas was light on new policy, but he used the platform to urge gun supporters to go to the polls in the November election.

"We've got to get gun owners to vote," Trump said in his wide-ranging speech, which covered everything from his criminal trials to trade and immigration over more than 90 minutes.

"I think you're a rebellious bunch. But let's be rebellious and vote this time."

The nation's top gun rights group has now endorsed Trump three times - in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

The organization had cheered on Trump during his 2017-2021 term, as he appointed three conservative justices to the Supreme Court and took a series of steps sought by the gun lobby.

That included designating firearm shops as essential businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing them to stay open. ...

... Former President Donald Trump sparked commentary on social media after he stopped speaking for more than 30 seconds during a speech.

Trump addressed thousands of members of the National Rifle Association (NRA) at the group's annual meeting in Texas on Saturday. The NRA officially endorsed him for president moments before he took the stage.

The presumptive GOP nominee urged gun owners to vote in November, saying the Second Amendment was on the ballot.

At one point more than an hour into his speech, Trump remained silent for an extended period of time after praising the state of Texas. ...

@#4 ... Pressure must be getting to him ...

Doesn't the Office of the President also have pressure?

Or is this pressure different?

Well, his tolerance for stress may have been reached, he is on trial for felonies in NY, I am sure the campaign and criminal proceedings are impacting his sleep, plus marital stress, so yeah, I figure he is in a pressure cooker.

FWIW when he was president he didn't work too hard.

I'd proffer that the court cases are weighing on him the most.

To that I'd say... maybe if he had not acted in the alleged manner, those court cases would not exist. For example, if he had done as Pres Biden and fmr VP Pence did, and return the classified documents quickly and expeditiously, maybe he would nt need to rely upon Judge Cannon's (whom he appointed, and who seems to be eyeing a SCOTUS appointment) apparent extreme slow-walking of the case to save him.

fwiw, my view is that it is the current NYC court case that has his highest concern.

Which is odd because I also think it is the weakest of the cases he faces. But the other cases have been delayed, likely until after the election.

It's a control thing. ------- cannot stand not being in control or in a situation where he can bully people to gain control. Thus him summoning the peons to speak for him That is what is eating him up.

I do not disagree.

That is why he demands unfettered loyalty from those who work for him.

Loyalty to him, not the Constitution.

Maybe he was desperately trying to hold in a wet fart.

Wet farts can be very problematic to release in public.

The real question is, how does unraveling gun regulations in America Glorify the Lord?

#15 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-05-20 02:34 PM | Reply

Wow, he glitched out for 30 seconds, does that beat McConnell and Feinstein's records?

Biden just had a glitch too: "When I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic and what happened was, Barack said to me, Go to Detroit! Help fix it,'" the president, 81, said during a campaign event with the NAACP. He added, "Well, the poor mayor he's spent more time with me than he ever thought he's gonna have to!"

Nobody should consider either of them seriously as presidential material.

Can't we do better than corporate marionettes?

So what? Just wait until another Dem is in office and they will roll back whatever Trump did. And, all the while, our country will continue to not solve any problems and spiral downhill from the new problems that keep getting added to the list that we will never solve. It's time to split amicably and progress. What America is not doing anymore is progressing. Both sides have ensured we will never move forward because neither side can compromise.

There you go with your "both sides are the same" again nonsense.

Trumpy loves the uneducated!

Which "side" blocked a bipartisan border package Wednesday, scuttling months of negotiations on legislation intended to cut back record numbers of illegal border crossings.

Which "side" blocked aide to Ukraine for nearly a year?

Which "side" has abandoned the fundamental principles of fairness, justice, equality, liberty and democracy for large segments of society?

Which "side" has decided that incivility and even violence are acceptable in winning at all costs?

Which "side" has basically become a cult, uses rationalizations and "both-sides-isms" to justify its chicanery?

Which "side" still believes in democracy, integrity and compromise?

The incivility has become extremely one sided which leaves only one logical choice at the ballot box.
