Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, July 02, 2024

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) opened the proverbial floodgates of top Democrats calling for Joe Biden's ouster from the 2024 presidential ticket on Tuesday, calling his mental fitness a "legitimate question." Her comments, in a lunchtime interview with MSNBC, came mere minutes before Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first sitting Democratic lawmaker to call for Biden to bow out of the presidential race. He was quickly followed by Adam Frisch, a Democratic House candidate in Colorado, who echoed the call.

Elected reps from his own party are calling for Joe to drop out over his mental unfitness. No putting this genie back in the bottle.

Too little, too late.

Democrats move at the speed of molasses, in the middle of winter, in Fairbanks, Alaska.

At this point, Nancy is sewing discord within the party and helping Trump pull ahead as dismayed voters turn further away from Biden.

In his current condition he is only enabling ambitious surrogates.

It's July, unless someone steps up who will excite America, I'm not sure a different candidate would make any difference.

It needs to be a Bill Clinton / Obama. Someone charismatic and well spoken.

Hell. Hillary would be a better choice than Biden.

But, I'm not certain she'd win.

"A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds Joe Biden and Donald Trump tied at 40%, suggesting that Biden has not lost ground since the debate.

Among the names of top Democrats put before respondents, only Michelle Obama outperformed Biden and led Trump 50% to 39% in a hypothetical matchup."

If I've translated your comment correctly, it appears that you're asking who would take Joe's place.

Unfortunately, the answer is Kamala. For many of the same reasons as Dems selected Hillary in 2016. Not selecting Kamala would alienate the Dem's Black and women base, much like not selecting Hillary in 2016 would have alienated the Dem women base.

Yeah, Kamala is unpopular and will likely lose to Trump. She might motivate enough of the base to turn out and help the Dems win the House and possibly retain the Senate, though.

On the other hand, Joe might cost the Dems more than the presidency if he insists on sticking around ("Democrats fear 'MAGA trifecta' if Biden drags down House and Senate candidates" www.cnn.com ).

For the Dems, it's not just a question of winning, anymore. It's a matter of reducing their losses.

That also applies to the Republicans, they just haven't figured it out yet.

Nancy Pelosi already knew Biden's challenges. It's just not a secret anymore.

I wonder if any prominent Republicans know Trump's challenges.
Seems like only persona non grata like Liz Cheney aren't trying to keep it a secret.

Pot, Kettle situation here... though she's not wrong. She just doesn't realize it's more than likely applicable to her too

What we are not seeing with this development is Pres Biden making threatening social media posts against those other Democrats who publicly question his fitness to server. Indeed, that there exist such Democrats is a huge plus for Democracy as the Democrats view it.

What we also are not seeing here is any reporting of violent threats against those other Democrats and their families.

Yeah, MAGA is a (violent?) cult that does not allow criticism of its leader.

Democrats seem to be able to act in a more civilized manner.
