Grim predictions that Ukraine's military would fold under renewed Russian attack proved badly wrong. But what comes next?

Assailed by waves of Russian assault troops, short of personnel and ammunition, and with some questioning their stomach for the fight, Ukraine's army has once again reminded us of its core strength " it fights for national survival, and that makes it a formidable defensive force.

Armistice? Frozen lines and lasting ceasefire.

Why keep Fighting if it's just killing thousands of people with no movement?

Who benefits? Ukraine? I wouldn't want to be there.

Russia? Same thing.

It looks like Western defense contractors are the biggest winners here.

Simple, to take back territory that was stolen from a sovereign Ukraine.

Secondarily, a ceasefire would give Pres Putin time to rearm and regroup for a second invasion, this time to annex all of a sovereign Ukraine.

Trump helped the UkroNazis, he sent sent lethal Arms. Even Obama didn't do that. Trump is a really stupid guy. So stupid he doesn't know it.

Putin who is a Brutal but Rational person, says Trump is too Unstable and Stupid. Trump has no history of helping the Russians in Ukraine itself.

I don't think the Russians are really interested in American Politics.

It's policy they are interested in and that is BiPartisan.

Or so it seems.

Moar War.....

@#11 ... Trump helped the UkroNazis, ...

Aside from your current alias just reciting the talking points issued to it about it's imagined preponderance of Nazis in Ukraine, your current alias has provided zero evidence to support that assertion. What's yer got?

... Putin who is a Brutal but Rational person, ...

Pres Putin is rational?

His plan to take over the sovereign country of Ukraine in a couple of weeks failed miserably.

That looks quite irrational to me.

... I don't think the Russians are really interested in American Politics. ...

They are. To a major extent. For the reason your current alias states...

... It's policy they are interested in and that is BiPartisan. ...

Bipartisan?

Not really. But a nice touch.

And, fwiw, my opinion....

It is good to see your current alias using a new set of talking points it may have been issued.

But really, please ask for better ones in the future. The current set is so lame, so asily refutable.

There WAS NOT a Kharkov offensive - this was simply the typical Russian troop force testing the defenses around Kharkov and they found them to be non-existent so they took vast swathes of land with no increase in troop presence. This then resulted in huge troop rotations for Ukraine to plug this gap (and cover for the fact that the money that was supposed to go for creating defensive fortification - which the Kiev government praised last year as a model for the country - was actually just stolen instead). This led to weakening Ukraine resistance along the rest of the front enabling Russians to take yet more territory. I will remind you that Russians DID NOT flood troops prior to the initial break thru and they were clear that they had no intention of taking Kharkov. So, Ukraine gets credit for turning back an offensive that never actually occurred and defending a target the enemy stated they have no intention of taking....congrats I guess?

@#15 ... There WAS NOT a Kharkov offensive ...

Of course, if an offensive fails, the first thing to do is deny it ever existed.

2024 Kharkiv offensive
en.wikipedia.org

... On 10 May 2024, the Russian Armed Forces began an offensive operation in Ukraine's Kharkiv Oblast, shelling and attempting to breach the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the direction of Vovchansk and Kharkiv.[2]

The Guardian reported that the offensive has led to Russia's biggest territorial gains in 18 months.[3]

By early June the Russian offensive stalled, with The Guardian reporting that the situation on the frontline had been "stabilized."[4] Ukrainian forces then began a concerted counterattack, which liberated its first settlement on 19 June.[ ...

The have been shelling and attempting to breach for the better part of a year. THEY DID NOT AMASS forces - the Ukrainians simply collapsed unexpectedly.

www.eurointegration.com.ua

"About 2,000 troops are engaged in direct combat on the Kharkiv front, with another 1,500-2,000 in reserve. There are about 35,000 military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces in the area, and the grouping is likely to increase shortly. However, it is unlikely that Russia will be able to amass 300,000 troops in this area, which, based on various estimates, is the minimum number of troops required to ensure the capture of Kharkiv,"

This was NEVER a Russian offensive as I stated. Just a collapsing Ukraine due to corruption that made it appear as one.

"Russia's inability to break Ukrainian forces underscores persistent issues within its military structure, including poor planning and coordination, inadequate logistical support, and low troop morale."

In one word Corruption... laced into all aspects of the Russian military apparatus. Come on, it's not as if Vlad Putler, aka Mass Murdering Tyrant(MMT) has not had the time to defeat Ukraine in a show of real manly man force. What's it been now almost three full years of nonstop mediocrity by his Russian forces? As if blowing up children's hospitals motivates the Ukrainians to give up the rest of their freedoms to you Vlad the Baby Killer. It's almost as if Count Vlad is attempting to prove Ukraine's point for them that yes Ukraine is a 'real nation'. One that has been unified as a nation to beat back Putler's seeming endless horde of human cannon fodder. Vlad wastes tens of thousands of soldiers and thousands of tanks, artillery pieces, helicopters, ships without any obvious strategy that I can see other than just to make the Ukrainians suffer.

Slava Ukraine! Never give up.

For decades. Good way for some to get rich but sucks when you start a war and have to go with the army you have, not the army you thought you had.
