This November, Thomas Matthew Crooks was set to reach a political milestone: The first presidential election he was old enough to vote in.

So far, investigators haven't found any evidence on social media or other writings by Crooks that might help identify his motive for the attempted assassination, law enforcement officials say.

But CNN interviews with more than a half-dozen former classmates and neighbors of Crooks painted him as quiet, with classmates remembering him as a good student and something of a misfit in high school.

Jason Kohler, 21, who went to the same high school, told CNN that Crooks was bullied by other students and seemed to be a loner.

Crooks had "no facial expression" when he walked through the school hallways, Kohler said. "He wasn't, like, with the clique, so he always had, I guess, a target on his back."

.

Another former student at the school, Sarah D'Angelo, remembered Crooks as "a quiet kid, not obviously political or violent in any way." She said the only time he spoke with her was when their class was waiting for their graduation ceremony to start.

A third classmate, who asked not to be named, said that Crooks was very smart, took honors classes, and was shy.

She said that he had a group of friends who were fairly conservative, some of whom would wear Trump hats.

"There was definitely chatter about him just looking a little different," the classmate said of Crooks.

"Almost a retro nerd vibe."

Trump Rally Gunman Was Definitely Conservative,' Classmate Recalls

A former classmate of the 20-year-old man who tried unsuccessfully to kill former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday recalled him being staunchly to the right of the political spectrum.

"He definitely was conservative," Max R. Smith told The Philadelphia Inquirer of Thomas Crooks.

"It makes me wonder why he would carry out an assassination attempt on the conservative candidate." Smith shared an American history class with Crooks, and remembered a mock debate where their teacher made students stand on one side of the classroom or another to signal their allegiance.

"The majority of the class were on the liberal side, but Tom, no matter what, always stood his ground on the conservative side," Smith said.

"That's still the picture I have of him. Just standing alone on one side while the rest of the class was on the other."

Just put it in the other thread on him, but my useless as anyone's prediction: accelerationist. Probably Bernie bro at 17, explaining the Dem donations, then turned angry at the whole system, Repub registration by 2022, and when everything didn't blow up - arrived at this point.

Except he didn't make the donation, another Thomas Crooks (age 69) did. That blows your entire "Bernie Bro" theory to pieces. Or are you trying to saturate multiple threads with it so that people just read it enough to assume its true?

Nah, wasn't sure if the new one started because the old was about dead. And I didn't learn that part until someone replied to me and re-reading the entire thread.

It does throw a wrench in that theory.

But throws it right back to what kind of nut decides Trump is so left wing they have to kill him? Either trying to make a martyr or so militantly pro-life Trump supporting throwing it back to the states is that kind of betrayal?

I missed the part about the shooter being a transsexual socialist fascist leftist woke drag queen illegal immigrant criminal gangster Chinese drug mule. Isn't that what he was? Der Dotard has been promising that all the baddies in this country could be described as such. No one is calling the shooter a good guy with a gun, but he pretty well fit that description, in the books of a lot of the MAGA Hat goon squad...

#3 I saw an article that said he didn't contribute to a Democratic organization. That donation was actually donated by a a 69 yo man named Thomas Crooks that lived, I believe in Philadelphia.

I'm wondering if it was staged and went wrong.

Address on the Act Blue donation is not that of the 69 year old but that of the shooter. Just the facts.

Waiting to hear that he was a patsy for the "real" shooter. Isn't that usually what conspiracists eventually always claim?

#11 He made it plain as day. He doesn't care about his supporters. All he cares about is their votes. That's it.

"Since Corey Comperatore was shot and killed by a now deceased gunman during Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania rally Saturday, the former fire chief's family has yet to hear from the ex-president, according to his wife, Helen Comperatore."

This report indicates someone in at the Crooks resident was a Trump supporter:

I'm told Thomas often walked around the neighborhood. And a neighbor told me until recently, there were pro-Trump signs in the front yard.

Could Trump have been hit by flying debris rather than a bullet? 4 officers on the scene who were near him on the podium when the shooting occurred were injured in just that way (emphasis mine):

UPDATE 4:50 p.m. Sunday

11 Investigates has learned that four Pittsburgh police officers assigned to the former president's motorcade yesterday suffered minor injuries during the shooting.

The four motorcycle officers were part of Donald Trump's escort to and from the rally in Butler.

Sources tell Chief Investigator Rick Earle the officers were just feet away from Trump when shots rang out. The four officers suffered minor injuries from flying debris caused by the bullets.

Sources say the officers were hit with either plastic or metal fragments when the bullets struck objects nearby.

They were treated at the scene. They were okay to escort Trump back to the airport in Pittsburgh last night after he was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.

USLE or the USIC cannot interrogate a corpse. Now USLE, the MSM and the blogosphere must read into the mind of a dead young man who threw his life away trying to assassinate an ex-POTUS. The USSS were just plain lucky the putative assassin was a "bad shot" (according to the members of his high school rifle team).

The assassination attempt was reminiscent of the final chapter of Stephen King's "The Dead Zone" when a hidden Johnny Smith shoots and misses at nefarious GOP US Senate candidate Greg Stillson.

If the USSS PSD and CAT team employed non-lethal rounds (plastic or rubber), they might have a living suspect today to interrogate and determine motive. Non lethal rounds fired center mass at 800-1,100 FPS will have stunned and injured the suspect sufficiently to render him ineffective.

Here's the video for #14 saying the Crooks family had Trump's signs in their yard the past few years:

Local Pittsburgh News WPXI: Crooks' motive is still unclear. Records show he is a registered Republican and neighbors today told us that they've actually seen Trump signs outside of the home over the last few years

Link? This Pittsburgh reporter indicates school authorities say Crooks was not on the rifle team:

School sources told me Thomas Crooks was not on the rifle team, nor did he try out for it. They have no reports of him being bullied. Students & teachers told me he was smart & extremely quiet. Neighbors say he walked outside often and could be described broadly as "odd".

I heard he wasnt on the rifle team because he tried out and failed, being a terrible shot.

#19 I don't know. The reporter above says school sources say he never tried out. Isn't it interesting that the four police officers near Trump were injured by flying debris, i.e., plastic or metal fragments? Are we absolutely sure Trump was grazed by a bullet?
