I learned more from The Phil Donahue Show about how American society really works than 60 Minutes or Face the Nation.

Only 88? I thought he was in his 60s in the 80s when my Grandparents watched him.

Good person, he opposed the Iraq war. He opposed Vietnam.

He was on the right side of History of when Congress and the PTB were not.

Donahue lost his shown on MSNBC in 2003 because he aired anti-war guests in the run up to the war on Iraq.

His show was the highest rated one in primetime and an internal company memo warned that he was "difficult public face for NBC in a time of war," providing a, quote, "home for the liberal antiwar agenda at the same time that our competitors are waving the flag at every opportunity."

RCADE, listen to Keith Olbermann's podcast from last night. Donahue didnt get cancelled for being anti-war, he was cancelled because his program cost 10 times more than any other cable news program, and for the majority of his time on MSNBC his ratings were middling. They ended up replacing him with Countdown, which ended up being anti-Iraq war, nationally was the first to report on the real Jessica Lynch story, calling out the lie that was sold by the Bush Admin to the MSM. Keith was on MSNBC for another eight years in spite of being opposed to the war and Bush. Donahue was the one who claimed he was cancelled for being anti-war. It wasn't the case.
