It wouldn't be a Donald Trump speech without some incoherent rambling or meltdown - but many media outlets have been accused of 'sane-washing' his off-script rants. It's been picked up by journalist Aaron Rupar, who has coined the phrase 'sane-wash' to describe how reporters and pundits try to explain the meaning behind Trump's ramblings.

Old man Trump, looking more senile and incompetent by the day. Luckily for him he was a gibbering idiot 10 years ago, so he's skating by on low expectations.

When fmr Pres Trump speaks, it is almost like a stream-of-conscientiousness lying marathon. And the press sane-washes it.

When VP Harris speaks and utters one lie during a rally, the press goes crazy pointigng it out.

Why does fmr Pres Trump seem to be given a bye on his lying?

DJT has successfully lowered expectations to nil.

Come September 10, Der Dotard will play to his base, which does not appear to be the majority of Americans. The small sliver of undecided voters, or those who can be swayed in one direction or the other, may well see a kook on their TV screens. Enough of them need to say to themselves 'this guy is insane and cannot be president'. The MAGA-hat crowd will chant in unison "My lord and savior is on live television..."

If they could they would broadcast in "bleats" or "sheep speak."

Personally, I prefer the media record candidates and let us listen to them without editing or interpretation. Fox News assumes its listeners are too stupid (too stupid) to inderstand what Trump is saying in his rants.

"She destroyed the city of San Francisco and I own a big building there. It's...no, I shouldn't talk about this buth that's OK, I don't give a damn because this is what I'm doing. I should say it's the finest city in the world. Sell and get the hell outta there right but I can't do that I don't care you know? I lost billions, billions of dollars you know? Somebody said, "What do you think you lost?" I said, "Probably 2-3 billion that's OK I don't care," they said, "You think you would do it again?" and that's the least of it. Nobody, they always say that, I don't know if you know, Lincoln was horribly treated, ahhhh Jefferson was pretty horribly Andrew Jackson they say was the worst of all. That he treated worse than any other president and I said do that study again because I think there is nobody close to [FDT]. I even got shot and who the hell knows where that came from right?"

I'm sure they'll be some ball-washing idiot to come along and tell us all what he REALLY meant any moment now.

"First they say, Sir, how do you do it? How do you wake up in the morning and put on your pants?'And I say, Well, I don't think about it too much.' I don't want to think about it because if I think about it too much maybe I won't want to do it, but I love it because we're going to do something for this country that's never been done before."

Because he lies so much he has actually normalized lying.

There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee..

"If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance then baffle them with your BS."

@#12 ... Because he lies so much he has actually normalized lying. ...

All politicians tell lies.

I want to say that up front.

OK, that aside...

fmr Pres Trump has taken prevarication to a hole new level. Serial lying whenever he opens his mouth. That is new.

And frighteningly, it seems to be taking hold within the Republican Party.

So, yeah, I'd agree that for fmr Pres Trump, he has normalized lying.

Now my concern is that the rest of the GOP seems to be following in his footsteps.
