This new FCC boss (Brendan Carr) will be significantly worse than the last Trump FCC boss Ajit Pai. Even Pai refused to leverage government authority to harass broadcasters critical of Trump. Carr has no such reservations.

... Carr's stated goals would appear to mark a major shift in the FCC's approach to broadcasters. Carr's predecessors, including outgoing Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel and Republican Ajit Pai, who served in the first Trump administration, both rejected Trump's calls to punish news networks for alleged bias.

Carr has instead embraced Trump's view that broadcasters should be punished for supposed anti-conservative bias. Carr has threatened to revoke licenses by wielding the FCC's authority to ensure that broadcast stations using public airwaves operate in the public interest, despite previous chairs saying the First Amendment prevents the FCC from revoking licenses based on content. ...

I'm sure all our "anti censorship" deplorable Trumping MAGAts will be here any moment to express their outrage.

Any, moment ...

@#1 ... broadcast stations using public airwaves operate in the public interest ...

From Pres-elect Trump's narcissistic viewpoint, he is the public interest.

So nothing bad can be said about him or what he does.

L'etat c'est moi.

A "state of public peril" or "disaster" or other (unspecified) national emergency ...

Here is what Section 706 authorizes:
(c) Upon proclamation by the President that there exists war or a threat of war, or a state of public peril or disaster or other national emergency ... the President, if he deems it necessary in the interest of national security or defense, may suspend or amend, for such time as he may see fit, the rules and regulations applicable to any or all stations or devices capable of emitting electromagnetic radiations within the jurisdiction of the United States as prescribed by the Commission, and may cause the closing of any station for radio communication ...

When Trumpy tries to declare an (unspecified) national emergency then (if you are paying attention) you will know what's coming next.

Nominee Patel's fictional King Trump book character becomes real?

Twentieth-century dictators"notably, Stalin, Hitler, and Mao"had all denounced their critics, especially the press, as "enemies of the people." Their goal was to delegitimize the work of the press as "fake news" and create confusion in the public mind about what's real and what isn't; what can be trusted and what can't be.

King Trumpy is on the exact same path as previous fascist dictators.

So don't believe me ... read about those dictators and how they seized and held power and you'll know exactly what's coming next.

Except now they have the power of AI, too.

This is fascism not socialism. Those private tutoring sessions with Vlad have paid off big time. Trump was finally a good student at something.

What's coming is conversion to the USSA: the Union of Soviet States of America under president for life Trump.

Russia Stooge Tucker Carlson May Be Giving Putin Full Access to Trump (December 6, 2024)
newrepublic.com

... Vladimir Putin's allies think the ex"Fox News host is a link to Donald Trump. ...

Russian state media thinks Tucker Carlson might be acting as a back channel between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

During a Thursday broadcast of the state-controlled channel Solovyov Live, host Vladimir Solovyov spoke to his guest, U.S. expert Malek Dudakov, and referred to Carlson's recent Moscow interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which was posted that same day on X.

"What is important here is that the man who came to talk to Lavrov spent the last six months shoulder-to-shoulder with Trump. Obviously, he didn't just come to conduct an interview. He has something to say. Apparently, he has a message that he is bringing," Solovyov said.

Dudakov agreed, saying, "Yes, we currently see quite a few similar emissaries." ...

So now, it remains to be seen what "national emergency" Trump is going to create to justify revoking FCC licenses for an indeterminate period of time (forever) and if FOX is going to be our only source of "state sanctioned" news.

And also, if that (manufactured) "national emergency" will allow him to declare Martial Law to justify using the U.S. Military against U.S. Citizens to quell any unrest . . . under threat of immediate and certain imprisonment.

Trump will play the fear factor to the hilt. It's all part of a buildup to the revoking of the Bill of Rights and a dictatorship (like Russia).

And will be sanctioned as legal by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Cannot have a banana republic if the people have freedom of speech and all that nonsense.
The vote to put Trump back into power this last time was 'the unforgivable vote' as it greased the skids for us to fall all the way down to being a pretend democracy, like in Russia. Soon the Supreme Corrupt Court will be working on a suit that says that our expressing our opinions in an opinion column is illegal somehow.
And of course, there are the creatures of the night who, in Russia, just harass and attack critics of the oligarchs without fear of being arrested themselves.
