Starbucks doesn’t want to be America’s public bathroom

Starbucks is scrapping a policy that had let anyone hang out at its cafes or use the restrooms without making a purchase. The new rules are part of a larger effort to improve Starbucks' cafe experience and deter homeless people and non-paying customers who have come to use Starbucks solely for shelter and bathroom access " but they reverse a policy that was put in place after one of the company's biggest-ever PR disasters. The new code of conduct, announced to stores Monday, is part of CEO Brian Niccol's strategy to lure back customers, boost sagging sales and improve worker relations. It applies to all locations in North America and will be displayed on store doors.

Seems reasonable.

I have noticed the have moved away from comfy chairs and seating I recall in University.

Today there's a local Starbucks, the moved from indoor seating and bathrooms, to only outside seating and no bathrooms.

Sad America allows its decay.

Friend was traveling in northern Africa years ago. He was in Marrakesh and asked about a public restroom.

The person he was speaking to waved their arm to the wind and proclaimed, "All Morocco a toilet."

OK, that begs a question of me.

The good drivers of FedEx, UPS, et al, when they have to ~go,~ where do they go to ~go?~

Do those companies have agreements to allow their drivers to ~go~ when needed.

Or, do those drivers, once they enter the delivery truck at the beginning of the day, have to ~hold it~ until the end of their shift?

Yeah, some real oddballs out there who don't enjoy sipping their $7 coffee while being regaled by the ravings of lunatic junkies exuding the aroma of feces and urine.

I just hope the workers there earning slightly more than minimum wage will be able to bear the loss of urine, blood, and pooh smeared on the walls of the restrooms they were tasked with cleaning.

Plenty of businesses will allow them to use the restroom even if they aren't open to the public. So they have that option available until the pro-druggie/pro-homeless advocates start filing their discrimination lawsuits.

Or they can pay $3 for a small coffee and magically transform themselves into a Starbucks customer.
