Uh, Bernie's a rich elitist career politician with a small hat. He's part of the oligarchy.

If you think Bernie's an oligarch, then pal, you've got about as much grasp on political systems as a goldfish has on astrophysics. An oligarch? Bernie? That's like calling Mister Rogers a warlord. You're not just off the mark, you're playing darts in a different zip code.
Swallow it.

" According to online sources, his 2025 net worth is estimated to be around $3 million.
Forbes reported that according to his financial disclosures, Sanders made $2.5 million between 2011 and 2023 from book advances and royalties alone. Sanders either wrote or republished six books over the period:"

And he could have been our president and saved the country if the moderate corporate sellout dems in the DNC had embraced their role as the working class party instead of chasing big donors.
The DNC slapped away the populists so the populists turned to trump.

I'm not too sure Democrats are gonna be happy with Bernie when he's recommending new political candidates run as independents.

- instead of chasing big donors.
Republicans made Money Speech and changed the way business is done. Without big money, you can't compete now.
Which is why Campaign Fin Reform with public (see the same corporations and media that now pay for it and profit from it now) financing is a necessary step back to democracy.

Reagan was only too happy to sell out.
The rest followed suit.

"Biden gave the Medal of Freedom award to an oligarch."
Curious as to the relevance of giving someone a medal... What new powers did Biden's award give this oligarch, that they didn't have before? Should... should the oligarch have asked for a monument instead?

So...someone walk me through how a president Bernie would be better for me than a president Trump.
Instead of billionaires, who in his cabinet would make my life better?

All I see is a lot of whining about rich people. If there are no rich people, what does that do for me. I only see negative impacts.

Your country wouldn't be an international pariah state?
Though that probably adds value, from your perspective.

So our only choices are to either let rich people rig the economy and corrupt the government, or have NO rich people?
A system where success is rewarded but the rich aren't allowed to rig the game doesn't sound like a good idea to you?

For people living in America, the oligarchs have exploited them and diminished their quality of life. People residing in the socialist democracies of Europe (like Germany or Norway) with strict gun control laws, inexpensive or free colleges, living wages, and universal healthcare have less chance of being murdered by a firearm or face a medical bankruptcy, enjoying a higher quality of life than most Americans. The US is ranked 24 on the World Happiness Report (2025 World Happiness Report).
On a personal note, I know an individual who enjoys the strict gun control laws of Canada and their socialist healthcare system (ranked 18), but he makes his fortune with a business in Texas. He also inherited a tidy sum of money from his wealthy parents. As a Libertarian he pushes for gun rights and tax reduction, continually bashing liberals in the US, but enjoys the socialism and safety of Canada. If you look up "hypocrite" in the dictionary, you would see his grinning face as the illustration.
If I ever choose to run into him again which I doubt, I will give him this: thumbs.dreamstime.com

"Your country wouldn't be an international pariah state?"
But that would be the case with virtually any other president but Trump. And lez be honest, Bernie is closer to Trump in his desire for power over the population than virtually any other prominent politician.

No -------. I'm a citizen of the US. I'm not even an ordinary resident of Germany.
My paychecks are in USD. I vote in US elections. I have a US passport.
I don't think you understand how any of this works.

"A system where success is rewarded but the rich aren't allowed to rig the game doesn't sound like a good idea to you?"
If the rich have rigged the game, they're terrible at it. They pay the vast majority of taxes in this country.
You know who really makes out well? Lower income earners. The ones who have no social obligations but still benefit from the privileges provided by those who do.
"What do rich people do for you?"
They pay my fair share of the taxes. Yours too.
Have you ever considered what would happen if they went away. I'm not sure if you realize it or not, but the absence of high income-earners isn't going to change your labor value one bit. What would change is the amount you would be obligated to pay in taxes just to cover the bottom line.

I can't imagine that I would ever move back to the US. Germany is a bit "meh," but it's still better than most of the US. And I'm not alone. Most of my US co-workers feel the same. But it's not because of gun laws. I would prefer to bring my guns to Europe. In facty, one of the things my non-US friends probably like most about the US is being able to shoot guns pretty much anytime you want.
And it's not because of some silly national healthcare system. I have no need for that. I never will.
It's because it's just a different lifestyle choice. And it's not for everyone, although I think more USans would like it if they understood it.
