Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, March 24, 2025

In what he called the "most consequential day of deregulation in American history," the head of the Environmental Protection Agency announced a series of actions Wednesday to roll back landmark environmental regulations, including rules on pollution from coal-fired power plants, climate change and electric vehicles. "We are driving a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion and ushering in America's Golden Age, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said in an essay in The Wall Street Journal.

The EPA put out a press release just to quote a bunch of CEOs and conservative pundits and such -- Grover Norquist, National Review editors, mining associations, etc -- about their efforts to roll back a motherlode of environmental regulations. Embarrassing shit.

Back when I was in my earlier ages, I remember going outside to play and my eyes would burn from the air.

We kids at the time used to note the "ring around the horizon," i.e., the brown ring that was around the horizon due to the pollution.

Now, Pres Trump's EPA wants to shove a dagger through all the gains toward breathable air that have been accomplished since the 60's and 70's ring around the horizon."

Why?

Because the clean air regulations cost corporations money to comply?

I'm pretty sure golden age is code for gilded age.

These pieces of s*^% know it's as much a facade as everything else tacky a&$ Trump touches.

They know the rubes are too ignorant to realize they're being told other faces what's going to happen to them.

There's no sane and intelligent evaluation of regulations going on.

There's illegal activity by outlaws and vandals

Are you saying ending some regulations is an illegal activity?

Not when Congress does it.

But you know that; just as you know who the vandals and criminals are.

You never quite get on the righteous side of anything.

Zed was stating that removing regulations is an illegal act. It's no more illegal than when these agencies create new regulations.

And quit being so pedantic. You know what I meant - regulations are written all of the time without consulting Congress. Does that verbiage satisfy you?

#13 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-03-18 10:01 PM | Reply

It makes complete sense that an independent agency should be the only ones who make policy such as the EPA. You don't want nor champion political Congress critters that are bought off by the same corporations and entities that need regulating. You'll wind up with places like Picher Oklahoma and a mile and a quarter as the crow fly northwest Treece Kansas.

" You know what I meant - regulations are written all of the time without consulting Congress. "

Are you aware of a phrase, commonly used in the English language,
"It shouldn't take an Act of Congress..."
Assuming you are, then you should understand this phrase exists because Congress delegates authority as matter of course, and doesn't have to be consulted on every rule change that is put into place within the Federal millieu.

You didn't understand that when you argued the Consumer Financial Protection Agency is unconstitutional, by the way.

#15 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-03-18 11:18 PM | Reply

I said that it's structure is unconstitutional - it is not accountable to Congress or the Executive. If it were accountable to one or the other I wouldn't argue that it's unconstitutional.

#16 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-03-18 11:31 PM | Reply

"...it is not accountable to Congress or the Executive."

Not accountable?!? Congress created it. They "accounted" for it. And when?

In Dodd-Frank. You know, the bill to curb banking abuses. And they reasoned, correctly, if left up to Congress, they'd die on the vine.

Pretty accurate fear, I'd say.

Regulations exist for a reason.

Industry has a long history of Dumping high costs on the communities they pollute and evading ANY accountability whatsoever.

Mining, logging, extractive industries. They pollute first and then evade any responsibility for the mess.

Eff That.

I can't stand this Worship of industry.

These Clowns pollute and contaminate large Areas and then walk away Scott Free.

They need to be stopped. And FORCED TO PAY THE COSTS OF CLEANING UP THEIR MESS.

Profit is not the only consideration.

We tried that and as we became more civilized and aware we imposed levies on egregious polluters.

Trump wants to Go Back to the AGE OF POLLUTION WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES.

---- THAT!

@#27 ... Now, Pres Trump's EPA wants to shove a dagger through all the gains toward breathable air ...

When I was a kid, I remember going outside to play, but I came back into the the house because the air outside was making my eyes burn.

We (my friends and I) also used to notice what we called the "ring around the horizon."

A brownish-orange area near the horizon is all directions cause by the pollutants in the air.

And in the 70's when I was in college, I went sailing with a friend who was in the campus yacht club. We sailed on the Hudson River. When I got back, a day or so later, I noticed my sneakers were falling apart. I mentioned that to my friend and he said, ~yeah, the water of the Hudson tends to dissolve glue.~

Let's go back to those days just so the oligarchs can make more money.

Are you angry, as well?

I care about the country and where it's headed.

But I can't be angry 24/7 forever.

But.....I care about the country and where it's headed.

So.......you're angry all the time? I guess if you're not, then you don't care about the country nor where it's headed.
