Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Three of the Manhattan federal prosecutors who worked on the criminal case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams resigned Tuesday, accusing the Justice Department of trying to force them to admit wrongdoing in connection with their resistance to dropping the charges. "The Department has decided that obedience supersedes all else, requiring us to abdicate our legal and ethical obligations in favor of directions of Washington," the prosecutors wrote in a letter to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. "That is wrong."

More from the article...

... The prosecutors, Celia Cohen, Andrew Rohrbach and Derek Wikstrom, had been placed on administrative leave in February after they, along with the then-acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon, balked at accepting the Justice Department's orders to drop the five-count corruption case against the Democratic mayor. ...

"It is now clear that one of the preconditions you have placed on our returning to the Office is that we must express regret and admit some wrongdoing by the Office in connection with the refusal to move to dismiss the case," they wrote. "We will not confess wrongdoing when there was none."

A spokesperson for the Justice Department didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. ...

Bald-faced corruption from Trump, yet again

Democrats target Adams after he breaks the Democrat line and admits illegals are a problem.

Now, the prosecutors that willingly (probably gleefully) did the lawfare prosecution don't want to admit they did anything wrong as they don't want to open themselves up to prosecution. Get these losers out of government and positions of power.

They're gonna sue and win for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Or as DOGE calls it, hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings.

Please explain the evidence your current alias has seen that convinced it this was a lawfare prosecution.

thx.

@#2 ... Bald-faced corruption from Trump, yet again ...

The very interesting part of this case, for me, resided in the "with prejudice" and "without prejudice" aspects.

The Trump DoJ originally wanted the case to be dismissed "without prejudice," meaning (as I understand it) that the case can be revised at the whims of the Trump DoJ, should a need arise.

Then there seemed to be an implied threat from the Trump admin ...

Homan: If Adams doesn't come through, I'll be back in New York City' (February 14, 2025)
thehill.com

... Tom Homan, the border czar tasked with overseeing President Trump's mass deportation plan, issued a stark warning to New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) on Friday if he doesn't "come through" on enforcing immigration policies.

Homan and Adams made a joint appearance on Fox News's "Fox & Friends," after Adams agreed to allow federal immigration officials to operate at Rikers Island " a decision signaling a change in the Big Apple's sanctuary city policies. The duo also vowed to work together to solve New York's "migrant problem."

"If he doesn't come through, I'll be back in New York City, and we will be sitting on the couch," Homan told the Fox News panel, referring to the embattled mayor. "I'll be in his office saying, Where the hell is the agreement we came to? We're going to deliver for the safety of the people of this city.'" ...

"the lawfare prosecution"

Is there some other kind of prosecution the lawyers should be doing?

#8 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-04-23 06:58 PM | Reply

OK, so now the Trump admin seems to be, with the "without prejudice" dismissals actively asserting that Mayor Adams should comply or else.

Extortion?

#9 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-04-23 07:00 PM | Reply

So the Judge overseeing the case would have none of that.

Long story short, (from what I've heard) he had little choice whether or not to dismiss the case, but he could add his opinion to his ruling.

And he did.

He changes the "without prejudice" request of the DoJ to a "with prejudice" dismissal.

Meaning the the DoJ could not resurrect the case if Mayor Adams did not comply with the wishes and desires of the Trump admin.

So, the apparent, mob-like, extortion attempt of the Trump admin was foiled by the Judge in the case.

One thing I can say about Eric Adams:

The only reason I know his name is this never-ending OJ style case.

I'm sure he's done things as Mayor but nothing sticks out. Is he the one who has the pigs turning their backs on him at some publicity event in the early days of BLM? And now he's a Trump darling.

Yeah, there's that aspect.

But I am in the NYC media area, so I see NYC news each evening.

Eric Adams
en.wikipedia.org

... Eric Leroy Adams (born September 1, 1960) is an American politician and former police officer who has served as the 110th mayor of New York City since 2022. Adams was an officer in the New York City Transit Police and then the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for more than 20 years, retiring at the rank of captain. He served in the New York State Senate from 2006 to 2013, representing the 20th district in Brooklyn. In 2013, Adams became the first Black American to be elected Brooklyn Borough President; he was re-elected in 2017.

In 2021, Adams received the Democratic Party's nomination for mayor of New York City after narrowly winning a crowded primary that used instant-runoff voting. In the general election, Adams won a landslide victory over Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. As mayor, he has taken what is seen as a tough-on-crime approach and reintroduced a plain-clothed NYPD unit that had been disbanded by the previous administration. He has also implemented, alongside increased police presence, a zero-tolerance policy on homeless people sleeping in subway cars.

Adams's mayoral tenure has been plagued by accusations of corruption, by the departures of key members of his administration, and by historically low polling. ...

illegals are a problem.

How so?

I'd wager the majority of food you've consumed in your life was harvested, tended to, butchered by, delivered by people you like to call illegal immigrants.

They're the people who do the jobs Americans refuse to do for salaries that help keep costs low at the stores.

Your hate is unfounded.

You're a fool.

Not just salaries, but also safety conditions. If you are an illegal immigrant working in a dangerous meat-packing plant, can you ask the Federal government for help about those dangerous safety conditions? You cannot. And that is one of the reasons why American companies give jobs to illegal immigrants instead of hiring Americans.

As noted by Pres Trump not targeting, e.g., Iowa meat processing plants in his crackdown upon illegal immigrants. ... Even Pres Trump seems to understand the contribution of illegal immigrants to the Country..

Then there are those who pick the oranges in Florida.

etc.

As I have said before, if you are in this Country illegally, you should leave.

However, I also realize the effects of that statement upon the, not only economy, but food supply we rely upon.

So, is the answer just a mass deportation to some inhumane prison?

Or is the solution taking a step back, looking at the problem and coming up with a workable solution?

Yup.The charges were dropped. (though I continue to disagree about the frivolous "lawfare" ascription).

That aside...

I agree. Mayor Adams does not have problems from this case anymore.

Why am I agreeing with your current alias after all the above?

Because of one reason ...

The Judge changed the ruling from the DoJ requested "dismissal with prejudice" to his ruling "dismissal without prejudice."

Maybe your current alias should focus more on that point.

So, the Judge saw the apparent extortion? attempt by the Trump admin (do I need to cite the #7 thehill.com article again?) and altered the dismissal to prevent that apparent extortion attempt.

This is how the justice system attempts to cover their ass when they take corrupt actions. The constant threat of legal action and never admitting they were wrong.

So, your current alias admits (again?) it has nothing.

It seems to ignore that the prosecutors who resigned over the Trump admin dictum have served both Democratic and Republican administrations in their past.

They enforced the law that they swore to enforce.

And, fwiw, I am still waiting for the evidence to back up your current alias' repetitive "welfare" assertion.

Words are easy, evidence is hard.

What's yer current alias got?
