... "We're living in a post-herd-immunity world. I think the measles outbreak proves that," said Dr Paul Offit, an expert on infectious disease and immunology and director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"Measles -- because it is the most contagious of the vaccine-preventable diseases, the most contagious human disease really -- it is the first to come back."

The US eliminated measles in 2000. Elimination status would be lost if the US had 12 months of sustained transmission of the virus. As of 1 May, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 935 confirmed measles cases across 30 jurisdictions. Nearly one in three children under five years old involved in the outbreak, or 285 young children, have been hospitalized.

Three large outbreaks in Canada, Mexico and the US now account for the overwhelming majority of roughly 2,300 measles cases across the World Health Organization's six-country Americas region, according to the health authority's update this week. Risk of measles is considered high in the Americas, and has grown 11-fold compared with 2024. ...

I was tested a few years back when I started working for a healthcare provider for measles immunity. I had lost my immunity and had to get a booster before I could start working for them.

Who could have guessed that the liberal elites fighting against vaccination pre-covid combined with millions of illegals carrying contagious diseases would ever cause a problem in the US? It is a total surprise.

We require more paperwork and proof of vaccination to bring your pet dog into the US than we required from the 10M+ illegals that Biden flooded the country with - make that make sense. Even in the days of Ellis Island we required quarantine - but the liberals 'knew better' - and we are where we are with Trump having to clean up their mess, AGAIN.

"you don't actually believe any of the nonsense you post, that's clear."

What is one statement I wrote that was not correct? Anti-Vax was all liberal elites in LA and Marin county - those are not GOP strongholds and the people leading the movement were 100% liberal. Here is an article for you explaining it:

theconversation.com

As to whether liberals or conservatives are now more likely to be opposed to vaccination, some researchers have suggested that, while anti-vaccination beliefs have spread to libertarians on the right, the anti-vaccination movement originates and finds its strongest support in the political left.

Or, how about illegals are carrying diseases into the US?

www.cdc.gov
"Measles Outbreak Associated with a Migrant Shelter " Chicago, Illinois, February"

Or, how about the illegals don't need to be vaccinated?

US-bound refugees are not required to receive vaccinations before arrival in the United States. Therefore many may not be fully up to date with Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)-recommended immunizations at arrival.
www.cdc.gov)%2Drecommended%20immunizations%20at%20arrival.

Or, what about dogs?

To bring your dog to the US, the main requirement is a rabies vaccination, and it must be recorded on a health certificate from a veterinarian. Additionally, dogs from high-risk countries for rabies need to be vaccinated against rabies at least 28 days before travel.

My wife and I got MMR vaccines a few weeks ago. Of course, like most kids, I was vaccinated back then. However, with all the nutcases refusing to get their kids vaccinated it's better to be safe than sorry since I never contracted the mumps or rubella.

Vaccines have kept me safe all of my life. I've been vaccinated against many diseases in my lifetime. Never died from vaccines or the diseases for which I've been vaccinated.

Yep - we have that in common. We both hate the ------- Marin County liberals that started this whole mess. First, they refuse vaccines - and then they work day and night to flood your community (of course not Marin) with disease carrying illegals.

Yes, many health care entities will test for antibodies to ensure immunity prior to employment. Some, like prisons and jails continue to test for TB.

That is god punishing them for using electricity and zippers.

For the Marin County crowd, they are being punished for being total -------- and hypocrites.

For you, I assume you did something horrific in a past life which is why you are damned to spend the rest of this life washing beakers for $15/hr.

The CDC started recommending a second dose as part of the standard childhood vaccination schedule in 1989. Anyone originally vaccinated prior to that who has not received a booster has a good chance of having lost their immunity by the time they reached their 40's.
