Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, August 17, 2025

Across the country, electricity prices have jumped more than twice as fast as the overall cost of living in the last year. That's especially painful during the dog days of summer, when air conditioners are working overtime.

The federal government currently spends about $4 billion a year to help low-income families with energy bills. But Wolfe says that's not enough to cover rising cooling costs in the summer. And President Trump's proposed budget would end the assistance altogether.

Didn't the bloated------------- promise to slash energy prices by half?

Anecdotally, my rates across three separate meters have not differed substantially since last year. They're up about 2 percent. But it is a little hotter this year.

I'm so glad I'm part of a well managed coop, who has an eye on producing much of their own renewable energy, instead if a greed-farking private utility corporation.

The increases that are hitting me the hardest by far are from insurance companies.

Great time to eliminate renewable energy.

Rip off american workers so oil company CEOs can buy more yachts. This is what you voted for magats.

Yeah this is a racket.

Great time to eliminate renewable energy.

Not sure it works at scale, lots of failing large scale renewables.

My take after reading WhatsLeft is that renewable works for the avg household/neighborhood.
But thats not where much of the energy is going, much like water.

Residential electricity use -> ~38%

At my hangar we get free electricity, idk why. But people are using to their advantage, its where I keep my freezer for my beef. Its the only reason I bought half the cow.

Costs for electricity are rising, not because of the inputs (energy generation) but all the logistics, and distribution, lawsuits etc etc.

As an example, I have to have a small ring of aluminum (space) between my front bulk head and the propeller bolts. The part is only $10.00 at most, but everything else about it amounts to about $379.00.

The costs in America are moving away from the COGs, to all cost of the infrastructure wrapped around it.

Let's go back to school.

Does having less of something make the price go down or up?

"Great time to eliminate renewable energy."

GFY commie traitor.

As electric prices rise my payments for the electricity I produce with my solar panels and return to the grid keep my costs stable and basically the same. It's call Net-Zero. They have to pay me what they charge.

In addition my solar panels feeding electricity back into the grid along with hundreds of thousands of other users (actually 1.8 million solar panels to be precise) keeps the cost of electricity down by allowing fossil fuel generators to go idle during the day.

AI overview:

The (true) Cost of Renewable ...
In most cases, renewable energy sources like wind and solar are now cheaper than fossil fuels for electricity generation. This is especially true for new renewable energy projects, where over 90% are now more cost-effective than fossil fuel alternatives.

So makes sense maga maroons want to do away with renewables in order to "save Americans money". You know.. like they have with tariffs and DOGE.

Capitalism survives on a lie, that the future will be fine as problems arise there will be solutions that will keep the economy flowing and people happy. Human caused global warming will kill many, and of course, as the fossil fuels run out, costs for everything will rise to the heights, though the rich won't care as they have invested in big oil, knowing that with Republicans like Trump in office, the poor will always be weak and powerless.

Sounds like the plot of the novel The Ministry of the Future. (Great read btw if you into dystopian possibilities)

As maga maroons like to try and remind us (like we didn't know) Global climate change has occured many times in the past.

The REASON this is so different today is that this is the first time in human history one species can destroy or severely damage the biosphere. And we are destroying data that could help us prevent it and our leaders in all 3 branches of government are still in denial that we are doing it.

It is the worse possible time in human history for America to choose to FAFO.

In that rant, you claim oil runs out but the rich will be rich because they're invested in.....big oil.

Wouldn't it stand to reason the oil stocks won't be worth anything if they run out of........oil?

Or were you just ranting and using sarcasm?

But there have been solutions that keep the economy flowing and people happy.

The cotton gin
penicillin
electricity
