A US Army veteran who set fire to an American flag near the White House to protest Dummkopf Trumpf's recent ukase on flag burning pleaded not guilty to two federal misdemeanor charges not focused on the act of burning a flag. He was arraigned on charges of igniting a fire in an undesignated area and causing damage to property or park resources. Jan Carey (54) of Arden, NC was arrested on 25 Aug after he set fire to a flag in Lafayette Park, which the NPS oversees. Earlier that day, Trumpf signed an Executive Order requiring the DOJ to investigate and prosecute people for burning the American flag. Trumpf's diktat asserts that burning a flag can be prosecuted if it "is likely to incite imminent lawless action" or amounts to "fighting words." "You burn a flag, you get one year in jail. You don't get ten years, you don't get one month," Trumpf brayed. "You get one year in jail, and it goes on your record, and you will see flag burning stopping immediately."
