The increased deaths in emergency departments at private equity-owned hospitals are most likely the result of reduced staffing levels, researchers say.

The US is the only wealthy industrialized Western country without universal healthcare. The for-profit American healthcare industry not only causes thousands and thousands of medical bankruptcies every year, but also creates terrible outcomes, leading to unnecessary patient deaths. Some rural hospitals already do not have ER physicians and the Republican "BBB" will further exacerbate the problem. The callous move to use AI before treating Medicare patients will reward contractors who will collect a bounty on money they save the government, creating "death panels," similar to the nefarious practices of United HealthCare (Medicare Advantage). Private equity firms have also moved into the profitable funeral industry, so our deaths are becoming more and more lucrative for the oligarchs. The hardworking American taxpayer hopes the devil-may-care superrich enjoy their unnecessary tax cuts under the 'BBB' and the platinum medical care they insouciantly receive from their personal physicians and expensive private clinics. I'm not even a conservative and I've adopted that philosophy. Hospitals are a great place to get sick.

I have a friend right now, who is trying to save his foot after infection got into it as a result of surgery.

Private equity generally improves nothing. As a general statement of observation it more likely sucks out jobs, priorities and efficiencies.

American healthcare as far as I can tell isn't capitalist by any measure.

For instance, I read recently hospitals can block NEW hospitals from being built near by, something like a bed-to-population ratio.

Also, the AMA seems to be a big gate in the creation of new doctors, as they control the number of residencies.

Crazy, this is the case.

"Most corrupt nation on the planet."

Until you realize how corrupt universal healthcare systems are, then you finally become an adult and realize every system is abused by those in power. It's sad how many people think socialism is any better than capitalism when we have plenty of real-world evidence that proves otherwise. The problem isn't the systems; the problem is people like you who ignore all of the negatives because they don't jive with your ideology. And I'm not being biased, the people on the opposite side of you also choose to ignore the negatives. That's just how grooming and indoctrination by your poligious leaders have made you.

PEs are the worst thing to ever happen to business. But, make no mistake, PEs are the same thing as government in socialist countries. All that changes is in capitalism the PEs are private leaders but in socialism they are public leaders.

Once you DR lib kids grow up and actually know how the world works instead of just knowing, "America bad, everyone else good", you are going to be so much more prepared to make good decisions.
