I live in one of the reddest Congressional Districts in the country. My Representative is MAGA Jodey Arrington, who just announced that he is not running for office again next year.

This man sees the writing on the wall. Was it the Epstein Files? Was it Argentina? Both issues matter a lot to the people around here. Was it Trump's endless insults towards the very voters who put him in power? All of the above and more?

The point is that a nasty, destructive man--Who voted with the J6 insurrectionists--is leaving office. It's no coincidence that his announcement is happening now. I think this is because he fears humiliation at the polls next year. That reckoning will come because reality is at last catching up with people who hitched their personal ambitions to a corrupt madman; to people who hoped to be rich and powerful because they literally made a deal with the Devil.

Well, the Devil never makes a deal with anyone he won't later hurt.

So, good bye Mr. Arrington. You're going to be remembered as a man who betrayed everything and everyone. And I sincerely believe that more than one impoverished rancher is thinking about killing you.

Right after Trump absolutely torches his base, the Democrats release the death blow of a child sex coverup.

This was well timed.

Does anyone think MAGA people can do the kinds of jobs that NVidia and Microsoft and Google have?

I suppose I should say "MAGA Citizens," since we've got that FOB guy carrying water for Trump every chance he gets, like his Social Credit Score depends on it.

As I suspected, Trump accidentally told the truth. Everyone is going to waive the flag around and argue with it but it's true.

We do lack some talent. We also lack a good education system which is why we lack talent. We also lack work ethic.

"We also lack work ethic."

You sound just like Trump.

...we lack talent. We also lack work ethic.

Must be an insurance industry thing. All of my colleagues (we do hydrology and physical science) are hard working and fully competent at their job. And all from the good ole USA.

I think your answer holds true for most any STEM field.

My particular corner of that world is saturated. The notion there isn't enough talent and we need foreigners to fill it is beyond absurd.

we lack talent. We also lack work ethic.

That's a lie that's been fed to you in order to make offshoring jobs palatable.

Fact is, it's just cheaper to pay workers in China and India.

Greed is a sickness and it's taken over America.

I think your disdain for Trump has led you to disagree with something you don't really disagree with.

You're all waving the flag since Trump insulted Americans.

Where is this talk when education is being thrown under the bus for being so goddam awful?

Now, it appears we're just fine. No issues with education? We're chock full of talent and expertise?

I didn't say we don't have talented and hard working people. I just said we need more.

It's either your disdain for trump or it's a self-conscious thing with your own industry and job.

Lemme guess...you've heard excuses like that when you've not been given a raise or bonus, etc???

None of you people work alongside with any immigrants in your jobs?

We lack a good education system because Republicans know that most people with a college degree vote for Democrats.

FWIW, Trump does hate Americans and I don't think he really cares about the talent and whether or not we have enough.

BTW, for those of you who think he's trying to run again......this might be a clue he's not.

Depends on the role.

With the gutting of NIH, academic science is faltering, pushing even more people into a tough market.

That's on top of the research system over producing PhDs because it required the cheap labor. That has, in recent years, saturated the industry pathway which is also in a downturn because of Trump and the economic uncertainty.

There are more candidates than jobs at all levels but it gets worse as you climb the ladder.

Fresh out of grad school, more or less. I was hired quick because I networked myself a job.

And as far as our education system, I'll agree we have problems. Now those problems will be compounded by superstition and revisionism. And cuts to lunch programs and education in general. It's more than worrying, it's corrupt.

Republicans are pretty good at making up a problem, and then creating it. Perhaps this was the plan all along; Americans have crap jobs while high-skilled positions are imported for crap pay.

I hate it when MAGA makes me put on my tinfoil hat. I feel like hrat.

That is not directed specific to you, eb, but Republican leadership and policy. I guess you can agree, in part. Or no?
