Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, November 26, 2025

Weiss is NOT selling Centrist news. Her view is that putting people with genuinely different worldviews in the same studio and let them argue with full force, in good faith, on air, where viewers can see how the arguments are made ,results in transparency and actual pluralism, not neutrality theater.

Whether or not she can find people who are actually arguing in good faith is another matter, but I think that she is sincere. I fully expect that right-wingers here and elsewhere will start bashing her soon, when she fails to pass their litmus tests.

but I think that she is sincere.

You can be sincere and still be a fool.

I have heard her speak. She is not a fool. She knows what she is doing.

And I am not impressed. Nothing but watered down maga BS. She is MAGA lite. So no. Not buying what she is selling. Thanks anyway!

I would still require two reliable sources to verify the validity of anything broadcast by CBS right now under her watch.

Inciting the Murder of children.. and Peaceful Academics, Just a real piece of ----. Tribe First. She should go Die in Israel,For the Chosen. With great commentary about her "sacrifice".

I don't think her enormous, expensive, security detail will be enough.

She's scared.

She knows what she did.

That fear will be her Penance.

Or Epitath.

Trust in the news media is at historic all time low. It's 100% self inflicted. The current model is failing. I like what she's proposing but as Seninel pointed out - the trick is finding smart well informed people who will argue in good faith.

#8 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-11-26 01:52 PM | Reply

Nobody's Arguing in "good faith", WTF does that even mean?

They will book Shills for Trump and Israel.

The Arguments will be laughable. Mostly just Hasbara lies and Fraudulent claims of Good economic data.

Claiming to show "process" is just Crap.

There is no process, just BS.

#8 Think having the Trump repeating over and over and over again for 10+ years now, about "fake news" and "fake news media," and having sycophants (like you, Perry "bell boi" Mason) repeating the same thing over and over and over again...

...might be a self-delusion fulfillment.

It has zero to do with "self-inflicted," Perry "bell boi" Mason.

#15 You're trying way too hard, Perry "bell boi" Mason.

Sure, people will view "bad news" with a jaundiced view and blame the messenger.

And the news is, unfortunately, supposed to be that messenger.

But let's take a look at what that opinion poll reveals:

Post Watergate, the trust was (in 1976) nearing 80%.

But, starting in the 1980s, that trust began to go down.

And just what happened in 1980 (or thereabouts)? The starting of the 24 hour news cycle with the launch of CNN.

In 1987, as the decline continued, the FAA decimated the "Fairness Doctrine," and the trust further erodes, but it is still above water, by many points.

In the late 1990s Fox was launched, and with its steady anti-Democratic, and-MSN drumbeat, the decline continued.

In the early 2000s, the W administration sold a bill of goods to the America people about the WMD in Iraq, and it was necessary to attack. The media reported it (the messeger), and when it was discovered that WMD was a lie and the media reported it

But some media supported the war (CNN, Drudge report, etc.), while others (so-called MSN) started having voices speaking out against that war (shades of Walter Cronkite and Vietnam - the real source of rightwing hared of MSM, along with the Nixon/Watergate 'witchhunt'

The trust deteriorates further.

In 2015 (just like earlier vis-a-vis Obama & birth certificate), the Trump starting repeating "fake news" and "fake news media" and sycophants like you nod in agreement.

Without once considering that, perhaps, this distrust in the freedom of the press coincided so nicely with the rise of rightwing bigots and anti-government zealots (Reagan and Newt), leading directly to the Trump.

And you played your sycophant role to the hilt.

Oscar-winning performance, Perry "bell boi" Mason.

And, again, do you believe that the border is secure... now?

#20 | Posted by A_Friend at 2025-11-26 02:47 PM | Reply

Like I said, zero introspection. And it's why the reaction to Weiss trying to shake things up has been so harsh.

They've steadily eroded trust because they've become increasingly untrustworthy. You can rationalize it until you are blue in the face but self-inflicted loss of trust is the cold hard reality.

#21 Find a dime, Perry "bell boi" Mason, buy a clue:

You keep making my argument for me with a comment like "...they've become increasingly untrustworthy."

Without once considering that, perhaps, this distrust in the freedom of the press coincided so nicely with the rise of rightwing bigots and anti-government zealots (Reagan and Newt), leading directly to the Trump.

And you played your sycophant role to the hilt by making it a self-fulfilling belief:

They've become increasingly untrustworthy because the Trump and sycophants just like you, Perry "bell boi" Mason, keep saying the media is "increasingly untrustworthy."

Oscar-winning performance, Perry "bell boi" Mason.

The First Amendment says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Perry "bell boi" mason responds:

"Yeah... yeah... I am doing my part to destroy the free press so that there will be nothing left of that First Amendment but religion, speech, assembly, and to petition.

"But those are next!"

Its mostly an oligarch thing. Media outlets are owned by a few people.

Rich AF people.

They promote their own interests to the detriment of accurate or in depth reporting.

They decide what's "interesting" and what isn't.

Or try to.

Government gets involved by favoring certain people based on their Attitude.

For example, "Crossfire," which Pat Buchanan co-hosted on CNN from 1982-1999. The show featured a political debate format with a host from the right and one from the left,

PS - Enforcement of the Fairness Doctrine was ended during Reagan's presidency.

Thus, all the right wing echo chambers were born, the ilk of Limbaugh quoting The Washington Times (created by Sun Myung Moon so Limbaugh and other conservative mouthpieces would have a right wing newspaper to quote ala "The Washington Times reported ... blah blah blah."

No it doesn't. POTUS wasn't enacting any law abridging freedom of the press. 1A also protects freedom of speech and that freedom applies to POTUS as well as the rest of us. Criticizing tue press in no way infringes on its existence.

It isn't "enacting a law," you smooth-brained, adult-sized applesauce.

It is attacking a Constitutionally protected class with chants of "fake news" and "enemy of the people" and "fake news source."

No law has to be promulgated for the damage to be done.

Why, just look at the way you're doing your part in working to destroy the freedom of the press.
