Zohran Mamdani placed his hand on a Quran as US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) administered the oath of office, making him the first Muslim Mayor of NYC and the youngest one in 100 years.
"New York, thank you for inspiring our nation," Sanders declared.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) praised Zohran for energizing new voters.
"We have chosen courage over fear. We have chosen prosperity for many over spoils for the few," Ocasio-Cortez said.
The Bronx High School of Science graduate was joined at the ceremony by his wife, Rama Duwaji, and his parents, filmmaker Mira Nair and Columbia University professor Mahmood Mamdani.
NYS Governor Kathy Hochul (D) who attended the inauguration, bleated that she will not raise income taxes. The inauguration crowd then erupted in chants of "tax the rich." Hochul will need the full backing of New Yorkers in her re-election campaign against MAGA Islamophobe ICE fanatic Bruce Blakeman.
Fellow NY Democrats Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was reported to have attended the inauguration, but House Minority Hakeem Jeffries was not seen. Disgraced ex-NYS Governor Andrew "Judas Iscariot" Cuomo, the political hack who betrayed the Democratic Party of his father, Mario, did not attend the event.
There is no indication that NYPD officers are leaving their careers for Florida, despite all the invitations from Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and county sheriffs in the Sunshine State, nor is there any evidence of millionaires fleeing NYC because of Zohran Mamdani, a young visionary who has the support of Dummkopf Trumpf and ex-POTUS Barack Obama.
