Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A global realignment in higher education is underway, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026. While the University of Oxford holds the top position for the 10th consecutive year, the data reveal a shifting balance of academic power: US institutions are slipping, even as leading universities across Asia continue to climb.

In total, seven US universities remain in the top ten: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2), Princeton University (tied for 3), Harvard University (tied for 5), Stanford University (tied for 5), the California Institute of Technology (7), the University of California, Berkeley (9), and Yale University (10). Yet the US. now has only 35 institutions in the top 100, down from 38 last year, and 102 in the top 500, its lowest total on record. Twenty-five American universities, including the University of Chicago (15th), Columbia University (20th), and Duke University (28th), reached their lowest positions ever.

Moreover, fewer international students are enrolling at US colleges, which could cost the country $1 billion. American students, sick and tired of exorbitant tuition costs, political censorship, and campus shootings, are seeking higher education overseas. Last year several US colleges were forced to close down and the nefarious Trumpf junta is ravenously collecting on outstanding student debts. The junta plans on dismantling the Department of Education as well. Dummkopf Trumpf and the Republican Party "War on Education" is accelerating America's decline while boosting China and other countries.

Isn't it MAGA policy that US schools should and ought to slip in rankings?

MAGA has been anti-achievement since the start. Their motive has been to bring American society DOWN to their level rather than try to improve themselves.

It's a combination of cultural laziness and resentment that the nerd next door actually ended up getting the girl and the money.

Yeah.. Gratz!

It's not working at all now that is run by an ex-ceo of World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment Linda McMahon who knows nothing about education and whose whole life was based on propaganda better known as "product merchandising". She negotiated many of the company's business deals with outside vendors and established the company's first line of action figures, Wrestling Superstars, in 1984. (She made dolls.)

It was a first in the wrestling industry and helped expand the company's popularity with children. She was also the primary negotiator for the World Wrestling Federation's 2000 TV deal with Viacom.

So she groomed kids into believing in fantasies. So she is nothing but a professional MAGA maker.

Dept. of Ed.'s fault?

Ask every parent of a child struggling in school what they think of a good education. Do they promote it? Are they working? What's the parents' education?

Attitude at home affects students.
If the students don't care?
If the parents don't?
Are students failing because doing well in school isn't appropriate?

Did everyone you know do well in school? Half of mine didn't. They graduated, sure, but they haven't changed over the years. They have the same life skills as they did when the left HS.

That's a hilariously apt image. Shame that the nice Polish sausage boy turned out to be such a Trump turd.

#71 New York Penal Law 175.10 is made-up?

Sorry, onepigironheadedsmoothbrainaut.

The law isn't subject to your whimsical fantasies.

Increasing it to a felony is Federal jurisdiction.

Then...
#79 That is, of course, a lie.

New York Penal Law 175.10 defines Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, which occurs when someone commits the misdemeanor of falsifying business records (NYPL 175.05) with an additional intent to defraud, which includes intending to commit another crime or to aid/conceal another crime's commission, escalating the charge from a misdemeanor to a felony, as seen in cases involving financial fraud or covering up underlying illegal acts.

Gosh, onepigironheadedsmoothbrainaut, I don't see anywhere in there about the Federal government.

Care to point it out, liar?
