Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, January 10, 2026

Vice President JD Vance announced that ICE will expand enforcement by conducting doortodoor deportations, hiring thousands of new agents and private "skip tracers," and building large detention facilities. Democrats and recent polls criticize the strategy as excessive and potentially unconstitutional.

Hi Hamburglar

What a fascinating Republican strategy to lose the 2026 midterm elections.

Midterm elections have historically had much lower turnouts than presidential election years.

"2018 Midterm Election: Turnout was approximately 50%, the highest in over a century for midterms but still significantly lower than a presidential year.

2014 Midterms: Turnout was only about 36.7%, one of the lowest in recent history."

Disgruntled Republicans won't vote for a Democrat out of hatred, so they may stay home on Tuesday 3 Nov 2026.

Disgruntled Democrats won't vote for a Republican out of common sense, so they may stay home on Tuesday 3 Nov 2026 too.

Who loses more disgruntled voters on 3 Nov 2026 will decide the winner and right now ICE is not helping the Republicans.

Hi Hamburglar:

Unfortunately the US system appears binary, Democratic or Republican, with fringe candidates or platforms like Dr Jill Stein and her Green Party. But the third choice is "no vote," which is what happened to Dems on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024.

Unhappy with US support for Israel during the Gaza genocide, millions of progressives opted for "no vote" in Nov 2024. They didn't flock to Jill Stein who won a meager 628,000 votes (0.4% of eligible voters).

The same happened to the Democrats in 1968 when they lost progressives because of their support for the Vietnam War and the draft. These progressives didn't flock to Richard Nixon or segregationist George Wallace, they stayed home.

I almost stayed home on Tuesday 5 November rather than vote for Kamala Harris who was going to continue US support for Israel.

I held my nose, took my family to the voting site, and we all voted for Kamala Harris because that was POTUS Jimmy Carter's last dying wish. But if I almost stayed home out of disgust for US support of Israel's ethnic cleansing, how many millions of progressives did stay home?

6,265,888 is the delta between the winning 2020 Biden/Harris election and the losing 2024 Harris/Walz election.

So, I look at the disgruntled voters in our trinary system which gives us the binary result.

In the game of bridge when we assess the strength of the 13 cards we are dealt, we count the "losers" first.

If those unmasked ICE agents come to my door in unmarked cars and wearing bulletproof vests labelled Police, I'm not answering the door. If they come back with the state police or the county sheriff in marked vehicles and a warrant, I will. Unwise? Unless a lawyer tells me otherwise, that's the plan.

#27 That it was, Alex.

But what was an earth-shattering event in 2000 sadly became standard operating procedure for ICE under Trump 1.0 (the Miller family separation operation, separating children (plural) from their parents (also plural).

And it is continuing under Trump 2.0.

Meanwhile ...

The fight over custody of Elian Gonzalez ended on April 22, 2000, when heavily armed federal agents raided the Little Havana home of his Miami family. Elian was seized at gunpoint and returned to his father, Juan Miguel Gonzalez, who was soon back in Cuba with his 5-year-old son.

Today, Elian still lives in the house where he grew up.

"I grew up with my family. I grew up with those I had to be with and that makes me very happy," Elian Gonzalez said during a 2023 interview with Liz Oliva Fernandez, an independent Cuban journalist for the U.S.-based media outlet Belly of the Beast.

Elian Gonzalez said during the interview that his life is simple, he is married and has a young daughter. Her name is Eliz in honor of his mother Elizabeth, who died at sea during the ill-fated attempt to escape from Cuba.

Can the MAGAts claim that as the result of Pedodent Trump's ICE?

It's been clear for years that they actually like "treading".

They simply have this peculiar idea that they'll watch other people get stomped on, enjoy that, and it will never happen to them.
