Husband saves wife because of the 2nd Amendment

Police have ruled a Florida man's actions self-defense after he shot a felon who allegedly attempted to abduct his wife. According to Fox News affiliate WTVT-TV, citing the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas Palomo, a 36-year-old felon who had previously gone to prison for kidnapping and other crimes, attempted to abduct a woman who was walking her dog in Bradenton, Florida, on New Year's Day. The woman managed to run away from Palomo's car and warned her husband, who went outside to confront Palomo.

The gun owner seemed to have acted in a rational manner, from what I read in the article.

I have no issue with people owning guns.

What I have an issue with is the GOP allowing, maybe even encouraging, people to own guns who may not be as rational as this person.

Stated differently, the GOP has often said, it is not the gun, it is the person using the gun.

Yet the GOP works to prevent things like, e.g., background checks, for gun buyers.

Absolutely. It's one thing to carry a long gun over your shoulder. It's quite another to swing it back and forth menacingly. Unless you're law enforcement/Military then that's different.
