While there are many political and policy victories Trump supporters can point to after his first year back in office, there are also questions about what might have been. A lingering one is often uttered in the form of a sigh: "What the hell happened to DOGE?" Elon Musk first suggested the Department of Government Efficiency to Trump during the 2024 campaign. A government agency specifically tasked with downsizing bloated federal agencies and rooting out fraud was politically popular, and signing an executive order establishing the agency was one of Trump's first actions upon being sworn in

alt headline: Rwing Stink Tank Apologetics for Trump and Musk

"Claremont Institute

The Claremont Institute is an American conservative think tank based in Upland, California. It was founded in 1979 by four students of the Straussian political theorist Harry V. Jaffa."

"Following the 2020 presidential election, senior fellow John Eastman assisted Trump in trying to overturn the election results, including attempts to persuade Vice President Mike Pence to reject the electoral count, and spoke at the January 6, 2021 rally preceding the Capitol attack."

''

"The institute has attracted substantial criticism. Commentators have cited its fellowship grants to figures associated with conspiracy theories, essays questioning the citizenship eligibility of political figures, and publications by authors affiliated with far-right networks as evidence of its drift toward the political fringe."

"The institute granted a fellowship in 2019 to the Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec.[15][16][17] National Review columnist Mona Charen wrote that "Claremont stands out for beclowning itself with this embrace of the smarmy underside of American politics."[15]

In 2020, Mark Joseph Stern of Slate magazine called the institute "a racist fever swamp with deep connections to the conspiratorial alt-right", citing Posobiec's fellowship and the publication of a 2020 essay by senior fellow John Eastman that questioned Kamala Harris's eligibility for the vice presidency.[18"

"According to a November 2021 Vice article,[32] the actions of pro-Trump Claremont Institute leaders"senior fellows John Eastman, Brian Kennedy, Angelo Codevilla, and Michael Anton, as well as Ryan P. Williams (the institute's president), and Thomas D. Klingenstein[33][34] (chairman of the board)"culminated in the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Williams has stated that the institute's mission "is to save western civilization". "

Maybe DOGE was using the same accounting you were using when you claimed that Howard Schultz paid "a lot" of income tax to a state that doesn't have an income tax.

Many?

I said he paid a lot of "taxes", nimrod. The point was and remains, progressive policies are driving rich folks out of blue states. See gov Hochul's recent comments if you don't believe me.

"What the hell happened to DOGE?"

DOGE completed its mission.

1) stole every American's private information.

2) cancelled grants for thousands of projects. Especially in arts and entertainment.

3) laid off government employees, many of whom had to be hired back.

4) cut funding to the EPA, DOE, and USAID.

5) dismantled regulations and reduced the authority of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

DOGE didn't accomplish:

Saving Americans money. Any money saved was used to justify passing Trump's tax cut for himself.

Here is what you said:

"the state of Washington drove away a man who pays a lot in state income taxes.

Were you lying then like you are lying now?

Yep. That statement was false. I assumed a blue state had a state income tax and I should have checked first. I apologize for making that mistake. Thank you for pointing it out.

You lied and then you lied about the lie. You really should send your resume to Trump. I think he's going to soon be in need of some new intelligence analysts who are willing to tell him whatever he wants to hear instead of what is accurate.

" I assumed a blue state had..."

A lot of that going around. Especially from your handle.

" I should have checked first."

That's never stopped you before.

I'd forgotten that I said "income taxes". You provided the actual comment. When I saw it, I realized the error, acknowledged it and apologized for it. What else do you want? Blood?

Paraphrased form scripture-

When it came time to stone Mary Magdeline, Jesus said, " those of you who have never sinned shall throw the first stone."

I'm assuming ALL of you ar3 going to claim you've never once made a mistake in your entire lives. And the way you all hone in on trivial mistakes is really something.

I said he paid a lot of "taxes", nimrod.

Who paid a lot of taxes?

Show them to me. These days the middle class pays most of the taxes.

The point was and remains, progressive policies are driving rich folks out of blue states.

Nope. Progress policies are what make people move to blue states.

Taxes is why some greedy rich folks are moving.

Their main residence anyway.

It's a loop hole the rich you love so much benefit from.

Delaware is the best state to have a corporation listed in and Alaska, Wyoming and South Dakota are the best states declare your main residency in if you want to avoid taxes.

Of course you can always just get a Qatari bank account like Trump did.

Or register your yachts in the Virgin Islands like DeVos does.

So many ways to steal money from America.

And you support all of it.

"When it came time to stone Mary Magdeline, Jesus said, " those of you who have never sinned shall throw the first stone.""

You left out the rest of the story.

Suddenly, a rock was thrown, and hit Jesus squarely on his head. Jesus looked towards the thrower.

"Mother, please!"

"What else do you want? Blood?"

You just said you didn't check, and you should've. How about if you take your own advice?

I've always contended it's because you're afraid you'd lose your precious talking points, and this incident proves it: You got caught in (yet another) lie, and your answer was to blame the poster insisting on the truth.
