President Trump told leaders of several Arab and other Muslim countries during a Saturday conference call that if a deal to end the Iran war is achieved, then he wants their nations to sign peace agreements with Israel, per two U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the call.

Why it matters: Trump's remarks on Israel and the countries signing onto the Abraham Accords during the call signal the next big step he wants to take in the Middle East after the war.

A U.S. official with knowledge of the conversation said Trump told the leaders that he would call Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu next and stressed that he hoped that in the near future Israel's leader would be on the same call.

Trump told the leaders that after the war with Iran ends he expects all of them who are still not part of the Abraham Accords or don't have peace agreements with Israel to join and normalize relations with the Jewish state, two U.S. officials said.

The leaders, especially those of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan who don't have formal diplomatic relations with Israel, were surprised by Trump's request.

"There was silence on the line, and Trump joked and asked if they are still there," one of the U.S. officials said.

Trump then told the leaders that his envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will follow up on this issue in the coming weeks.

Why it matters:

He wants a Nobel Peace Prize more than anything else in the world.

Alas, he can't buy one, so he will never have one.

USS Photo Prop will be heading to Greenland next. Maybe they can swing by Norway while they're up that way.

They're likely to end up with the Straits, a $100 billion settlement, free nuke building instructions, and a used slightly Ballroom.

That will depend on what happens when Bibi blows the ceasefire with a full blown air attack on Iran. Again.

Lewzer will likely fall in line pretty quick. Again.

Rewarding ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by recognizing Israel is the fastest way for some of those Middle Eastern regimes to anger their subjects and ensure instability.

When the Shah of Iran fell in 1979, the new regime in Tehran announced Iran wanted friendly relations with every country in the world except for two.

When I ask people which two countries did Tehran exclude, everyone responds: "The US and Israel."

Nope.

In 1979 the new regime in Iran did not want relations with Israel and South Africa because of their racist, apartheid regimes towards the Palestinians and the blacks.

They did not specifically single out the US.

Relations crumbled after the US agreed on humanitarian grounds to let the hated and exiled Shah enter the US for medical treatment.

The students (Revolutionary Guards) then swarmed the US Embassy in anger, taking hostages.

Many elements of Iranian society opposed this brazen diplomatic affront, but were powerless to stop it.
