BREAKING AXIOS: The Trump admin plans to drop its controversial $1.8 billion slush fund -- at least for now, two senior admin officials told Axios. It's unclear whether this would also kill the IRS settlement that protected Trump and his businesses from being audited.

"Two federal judges raised questions about the DOJ fund Friday, with one Virginia-based district judge issuing a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump administration from disbursing any money from it.

Separately, the Florida-based district judge who presided over the federal lawsuit filed by Trump that led to the fund's creation launched an inquiry into the settlement deal.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune indicated the fund would have to be restricted in some way to unlock further progress on the GOP bill, saying in an interview it was a "safe bet" changes would be coming.

"The best way to handle it is if the administration decides to shut it down themselves," he added in subsequent comments to reporters."

Must be a weird feeling for some of the GOPhers in Congress to actually say 'NO' to DJT.

@#1 ... Must be a weird feeling for some of the GOPhers in Congress to actually say 'NO' to DJT. ...

It looks to me like only 20 days of both chambers of Congress being in session before the August recess.

So, maybe the GOP in Congress saw they had better battles to fight?

I'm not yet willing to go that far.

This was just a battle he lost.

November 2026 may provide more information upon whether this battle win is indicative of a possible war win.

Stated differently, too soon to tell.

Trump expects to lose most of his "distraction" battles once they've served their purpose. It's the one thing he never runs out of, it seems.

In the meantime, after he destroys the world's economy and even if impeached while leaving the Republican Party in shambles he'll win the biggest battle of his life. He'll leave office with $6+ Billion more than he came in with plus whatever his kids can steal from the U.S. Treasury in their own Dash for taxpayer dollars.

That will be Trump's REAL retribution. Total destruction!

It's still all about retribution for the 2020 election . . . . and amassing enormous wealth in the pross.

It's never been about anything else.

And we'd be fools to think he's reached the depth of his depravity.

Keep in mind that some VIP "turncoat" hasn't fallen out a window yet. Maybe that's a message Trump is saving for last if the heat gets too hot.

As corruption goes, Trump is world class, head of the class, going into the history books for all time..
Sure, he is the worst President ever, if one looks at the Presidency as being an office in service to the people of America, but as a candidate to the grifting hall of fame...stunning. Just watch his face as his critics point out his crimes...he takes great pleasure in it all.

Anything to protect Trump's real goal of holding on to his 'get out of IRS audits' card. No way Der Dotard will give up on this without a fight that will make the War of Northern Aggression look like a picnic. (Of course, by agreeing to it, Todd Blanche has given up his chance of becoming a real AG.)...

Trump to Get Audit Immunity as $1.8 Billion Fund in Doubt
news.bgov.com

... US officials are continuing with an agreement that bars the government from probing past tax filings from President Donald Trump and his businesses, according to a person familiar with the matter, while a plan to set up an "Anti-Weaponization Fund" is on hold.

The Trump administration on Monday privately signaled it was pausing plans to implement the $1.8 billion fund to pay people who claim they were victims of government "weaponization," Bloomberg has reported.

Another part of the deal banning any audits and tax-related probes of Trump, his family members and his companies that were started before the settlement isn't affected by the decision to place the fund on hold, said the person who asked to remain anonymous speaking about the sensitive matter. ...
