Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi, musicians Ehsan Beiraqdar and Soheil Faqih Nasiri, and six members of the production team for the Caravanserai Concert were ordered to be lashed 74 times by the Qom Provincial Criminal Court, Iranian human-rights groups and diaspora media outlets reported Thursday. The artists will also face a two-year travel ban and a two-year restriction on all artistic activity. The court ruled they had offended "public decency through the production and publication of obscene and immoral content on cyberspace platforms." The artists and their team were first arrested after their performance was broadcast on YouTube last December. They were ordered to appear before the Prosecutor's Office for Moral Security in January.

The JPost is the equivalent of the NY Post.

Be that as it may, there's lots to unpack.

Let's see how hard the lashes will be, will the sentence be commuted, what will Dummkopf Trumpf, Carmine Infantino, the EU or the UN say?

This sentence came from a provincial court in which Tehran could intervene.

Certainly Vladimir Putin will approve of this as he has already ordered the abuse of Pu**y Riot members.

I hope the poor girl survives because 74 genuine lashes could be lethal-- "whipped to death" is the term.

JPost.com is happy to report about the abuse of Muslims in Iran but I wonder if they write about the Muslims being abused at the hands of the IDF in brutal military prisons.

Probably not.

Just one report out of many: IDF tortures Muslims

My personal interest was more along artistic lines.

Good to know about the JPost.

The current Iran regime is evil towards the people of Iran.

'Tis a shame that Pres Trump did not accomplish his regime-change goal.

Most Iranians want regime change...

"Rejection of the Theocracy: Comprehensive surveys conducted by research groups"such as the Group for Analyzing and Measuring Attitudes in Iran (GAMAAN)"indicate that roughly 70"80% of Iranians reject the Islamic Republic and favor fundamental regime change."

www.google.com

They'd prolly just like someone competent to try it.

Or at least someone who really cared what they wanted rather than how much he could scam them for after.

Trump killed 175 girls just because.

Demonizing and enfausting the Tehran regime is tantamount to tackling shadows or chasing the wind because like the regime in Beijing, they are not going away anytime soon.

This is also an example of the West throwing rocks when the habitants live in glass houses.

Buddhism teaches that "intention" is important.

What is the "intention" of writers in Israel or the US castigating the Iranian theocracy? Like the editors at JPost.com really care about the Iranian population when IDF torture chambers are full of Palestinians and their country caused an environmental calamity there?

Look how many migrants are jammed up in ICE gulags or how many People of Color are shot by white racist security forces in America.

As cruel as the Tehran regime is, the US is also cruel and desperately needs regime change-- pronto.

And in the UK a court sentenced four volunteers to lengthy prison terms for one night of sabotaging a drone factory that was making lethal drones for Israel.

Their act of defiance injured no one, yet these four were harshly sentenced under terrorism statutes.

I hope the young Iranian artist survives her terrible ordeal, but using that canard to further bankrupt the US treasury with more war is quixotic.
