So if America decides to enter the fray, they will be engaging Russia directly, which is the last thing that they want.

All needs to do is look at how many Russian warships are currently in the Persian golf awaiting Israel's promised move.

I find it quite ironic that the world has to rely on Russia of all countries in order to reign in Israel's psychopathic aggressions. What a shameful moment to be an American.

If Israel were actually killing all these people with the goal of destroying Hamas then Sinwar's death might be significant, but Israel's goal is not about destroying Hamas- it never EVER was. Israel's goal is the ethnic cleansing and annexation of Gaza and eventually the West Bank. This is public knowledge at this point, and is not seriously debatable.

What's happening in Gaza conclusively disproves everything that Israel's ethno-supremacist loving simps have been saying for the past year. The fact that Israel is now openly starving and killing Palestinians to force them south with the goal of stealing Palestinian land while rejecting any possibility of a hostage deal or a ceasefire disproves everything Israel apologists have been saying to justify the Israeli military's actions in Gaza.

The killing was never about self-defense.
The killing was never about fighting terrorism.
The killing was never because of human shields.
The killing was never because of Hamas terror bases hidden under hospitals, schools, mosques and humanitarian aid facilities.

American politicians/rulers and those who finance them don't think like normal people think. They don't think in terms of doing the right thing or acting in a way that benefits everyone. They only think in terms of what stories normal citizens are telling each other, and how those stories can be altered or changed in a way that advances the interests of the empire they serve.

Whether they be politicians, their sycophants, or the wealthy/powerful that support them (or more generally, highly manipulative people in general) these individuals do not use language in the way that normal people use language. Normal human beings use language to connect and interact, whereas manipulators use it only to extract things they want from the citizenry and exert control over them. They do this by working to control the narratives that citizens have about their material reality.

And that essentially is what America has ultimately become and shown itself and its future to the rest of the world.

But they are actually the worst.

War and militarism is the glue that holds the Empire together, so our governments and politicians and policy shapers do everything they can to keep us arguing about domestic policy at the expense of caring much about foreign policy.

There is a brilliantly written book called "Exterminate All the Brutes" by Sven Lindqvist which documents the evils of European colonialism and genocide in 18th/19th/very early 20th century Africa. It uses the story of "Heart of Darkness" as a stepping-off point to analyze the manifestations of European supremacism, racism, colonialism and genocidal thought (which is mimicked to a T in Israel's current behavior against the Palestinians) and how it directly led to the mass atrocities of the 20th century.

He also wrote a book called "A History of Bombing" which I think equally as brilliant, but a bit more challenging read. Europeans know about these books- moreso than the average "literate" American.
