The nefarious sex offender was worth $600m when he died, but exactly how Jeffery Epstein acquired his fabulous wealth remains a mystery. Between his collection of lavish homes in New York, Palm Beach and Paris, two private Caribbean islands, two jets and helicopter, Epstein held nearly $380m in cash and investments. Epstein's wealth arrived suddenly. According to associates, until the end of the 1990s, Epstein was living in a two-bedroom apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side close to the river. Steven Hoffenberg, a former business partner of Epstein convicted of running a Ponzi scheme, claimed that Maxwell's father, disgraced press baron and alleged Israeli and Russian spy Robert Maxwell, introduced his daughter Ghislaine to Epstein in the late 1980s. After her arrival Epstein's lifestyle dramatically elevated. He moved to a townhouse on 68th Street and later to a 28,000-sq-ft mansion on 71st Street. Read more

Chris Hedges: Martyrs are used by messianic movements to sanctify violence. To show any mercy or understanding toward the enemy is to betray the martyr and the cause the martyr died defending.

European Union leaders on Sunday slammed Moscow for the second violation of EU territory in less than a week after a Russian drone breached Romanian airspace during an attack on southern Ukraine. At Trump's behest, throngs of his supporters descended on Washington, DC, to dispute the results of the presidential election, climbing the steps of the Capitol and busting through its doors and windows. Throughout the day, Trump continued to falsely claim that the election was stolen without any evidence to support this unreality, further riling up his followers to "take the country back." By mid-afternoon, the Capitol building was breached and one member of the mob had been shot and fatally wounded. Five people died. In a last-minute video message, Trump told the crowd to go home " then told them he loved them and believes they're "very special." Read more

Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter Tyler Robinson was living with a transgender partner who was in the process of transitioning from a male to a female, a law enforcement source confirmed to The Post Saturday. That individual, who has yet to be identified by the authorities, is now fully cooperating with the FBI on its investigation into the fatal shooting of the conservative activist, the source added. The relationship was first reported by Fox News' Brooke Singman. Text messages and other communications that the transgender individual traded with Robinson, 22, helped the feds nab the accused assassin.

A while back I put out these rules for the internet. 1. When we disagree, we fight. 2. We have a beer afterward. 3. When we agree, we unite. I got a lot of flack, surprisingly, for the line about the beer. People would ask, "Oh yeah, would you have a beer with Charlie Kirk?!" Well, I did. And I'm glad I did, because now I won't get to. Yes, Charlie and I disagreed a lot and about really important things. But somehow we didn't lose our humanity. We were still fellow Americans.

The London Times reports that the Trump Administration has been deporting Russian dissenters who fled Vladimir Putin's authoritarian regime, sending them back to Russia, and even apparently helping Russian authorities persecute them: On August 27, less than a fortnight after President Trump's summit with Putin in Alaska, dozens of Russians were rounded up and deported. Among them was Artyom Vovchenko, 27, a deserter from the war in Ukraine. He is facing a prison sentence of up to decade or could be sent back to the front line. ... . Although the deportation of Russians to Russia has accelerated under Trump, the policy began under his predecessor Joe Biden. "It's a long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible for years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's worst mass murderers and criminals," Trump said in an address from the Oval Office. "This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now."

Sheriffs served legal papers on behalf of Orbis Business Intelligence at Dummkopf Trumpf's Scottish golf courses as part of a dispute with former British MI6 officer Christopher Steele. The consultancy was awarded more than 625,000 UK pounds in costs during a UK High Court hearing in April but Trumpf has refused to pay. The High Court ruled against Trumpf in Feb 2024 and Orbis was initially awarded 300,000 UK pounds in costs. Trumpf sought permission to appeal against the judgment but was refused. Read more

Multiple historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are on lockdown after receiving potential threats on Thursday, including Alabama State University, Virginia State University, Hampton University in Virginia, Southern University in Louisiana, and Clark Atlanta University in Georgia. Spelman College, located near Clark Atlanta University, has also implemented shelter-in-place protocols as a precautionary measure due to its proximity. The lockdown measures come in the wake of the shooting at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, where 31-year-old conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was killed at his speaking engagement on campus. Civil right activist Rev. Al Sharpton released a statement on Thursday, calling for an end to threats to HBCU campuses and all forms of violence amid tensions after the killing of Kirk.

He blamed Black Lives Matter for "destroying the fabric of our society." Read more
