More frequent use of cannabis was associated with higher odds of adverse cardiovascular outcomes, finds a new study in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Study Background: We examined the association between cannabis use and cardiovascular outcomes among the general population, among never-tobacco smokers, and among younger individuals.
Is this "discovery" really new?
The electrophysiological effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) on cardiac conduction in man (1977)

Sounds like more reefer madness garbage.
And... it's garbage. The claim that 17% of Americans have ever used cannabis is way below the 50% that Gallup found last year.
The claim that 90% haven't used it in the past year is also garbage, given that 17% consider themselves regular users according to more reputable surveys.
So... Funding. It's funded by the feds, specifically the NIH. No obvious ties to pharma for this study... but....
The authors... The lead author (Abra M. Jeffers) has been trying to find some connection for years. She tried in 2020 and failed with a Colorado study (https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.141.suppl_1.P250). Stanton Glantz is an anti-smoking activist. Salomeh Keyhani has been going after cannabis for years, was an author on a thoroughly ridiculous story about "cannabis use disorder". She has received big pharma money for a PTSD drug, which would face direct competition from cannabis. Amy L Byers has a few cannabis studies that would appear to be intended to be designed to be negative toward cannabis.
