Steve Bannon Floats MTG for Homeland Security Chief

Steve Bannon, the far-right powerbroker who served as a key Donald Trump advisor from 2015 to 2017, has an idea: let Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., take the reins at the Department of Homeland Security.

More

"You're such a fighter," Bannon gushed on his "War Room" podcast early Wednesday. "Now, is there truth to the rumor that you're going to take over at DHS?"

Comments

"Greene, who regularly promotes far-right conspiracy theories, had previously expressed interest in leading the department and executing Trump's stated policy of mass deportations of immigrants and their children, many of whom she characterized as "terrorists."

Earlier in 2024, she sponsored a resolution to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the border. The Senate found that he did not reach the standard of committing "high crimes and misdemeanors" and dismissed the charges.

At a House committee hearing last year, Greene called Mayorkas a liar. When Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., defended the DHS secretary, she falsely suggested that the Democratic lawmaker had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy.

Lately, Greene has espoused the theory that Democrats can control extreme weather events like Hurricane Helene."

She's a shoo-in to lead Homeland Security in -------------.

The idiots running the asylum.

Putting aside the collateral damage, this circus is going to be pretty funny to watch.

Many, hopefully none, of these people that are being suggested for various rolls in the cabinet have much chance of being confirmed by the senate.

"No one in this world, so far as I know " and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me " has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.

Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. The mistake that is made always runs the other way.

Because the plain people are able to speak and understand, and even, in many cases, to read and write, it is assumed that they have ideas in their heads, and an appetite for more.

This assumption is a folly."

Does anyone seem to care that we've lost the Cold War? People don't remember when Russians were the bad guys. Is that it?

We're about to open up our national security apparatus to a bunch of people on the Russian payroll.

USA = Russian vassal state. Doesn't sound that good to me.

I wonder when we start selling arms to Moscow. Or maybe they can come pick what they want for St. Nicholas Day next year.

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
I see a clinic full of cynics
Who want to twist the peoples' wrist
They're watching every move we make
We're all included on their list

The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum

"Go nuclear" the cowboy told us
And who am I to disagree
'Cos when the madman flips the switch
The nuclear will go for me

The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum

I've seen the faces of starvation
But i just cannot see the point
'Cos there's so much food here today
That no one wants to take away

The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my right to choose
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my point of view
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my dignity

Take these things away from me
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my family
Take away the right to speak
The lunatics have taken over the asylum take away my point of view
Take away my right to choose

Who might make up Trump's Cabinet
www.politico.com

... Donald Trump didn't engage in formal conversations about a potential Cabinet in the run-up to his election. But that didn't stop him from spitballing potential contenders during his frequent plane rides to campaign events, or when he is impressed by one of his allies on television.

"He would be great at this," or "She would be great at that," Trump has said on recent occasions while watching surrogates on television, according to a person with knowledge of his comments who was granted anonymity to speak freely. And like with his monthslong search for a running mate, the TV circuit became an important venue for the aggressive jockeying underway by allies eager to secure a Cabinet job. Some candidates for the Cabinet have even hired their own public relations teams.

Trump's first Cabinet was confirmed at a slow pace, due to Democrats slow-walking the process, only to see high turnover in those top jobs during his four years in office.

This is POLITICO's latest snapshot of the leading contenders for Trump's top jobs. ...

Saudi Arabia leads Arab world in congratulating Trump
www.arabnews.com

... Saudi Arabia's King Salman sent a cable of congratulations to Trump, wishing him success and the "American people further progress and prosperity."

The king praised the strong historical ties between the two nations, "emphasizing the shared desire to further strengthen these bonds in all areas."

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a cable to congratulate Trump. In a phone call later on Wednesday, the crown prince expressed the Kingdom's aspiration to strengthen Saudi-US relations. He wished the American people progress and prosperity under Trump's leadership.

The Republican made Saudi Arabia his first foreign visit after he took office for his first term as president in 2017. The visit underlined the importance of the historic US-Saudi partnership and cemented relations with Gulf allies. ...

Well ya know... if the youngun's didn't get out the vote then this must be what they want. I say let them have it. The dire poop everyone seems to fear is going to be what they have to clean up... same as it was for us. It's not as if avoiding nuclear war was enough for our generation with all the talk about banning bombs and today there are more nukes than ever... so it's not like we got everything right either. Hell my parents were born during the Great Depression and lived through a world war...

The kids have my permission.

If they don't want it then... as far as I am concerned... they must be devising another plan to change things... maybe a concept of a plan... or... what... they'll come up with solutions.

In the meantime we have made forward progress... it just doesn't feel like it now is all... because we got "Roved" again... the left spent as much time translating and parsing Trumpanzee's tirades as did the righty tightys. Everyone's hair was on fire... It was exhausting. Need to own that.

for reals... Bush won reelection because people were afraid of bin Laden, gay marriage and pot smoking... we know how long that lasted... totally Roved... again.

The internet makes all this seem like a bigger deal than it is. Trumpanzee won two elections against women in a sector of the world where women aren't wanted... most of the time. It's not like he changed things... except some men took women seriously... for a change.
Toothpaste is out the tube... We're not going back.

Frankly that's a good thing.

Kamala changed the world in 3.5 months...

MTG will never get close to anything that significant.

"Democratic candidates have often been avatars of elitism " Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and second-term Barack Obama. The party embraced a worldview of hyper-political correctness, condescension and cancellation, and it supported diversity statements for job applicants and faculty lounge terminology like "Latinx," and "BIPOC" (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)."

Pelosi is conspicuously absent. Covering-up Biden's cognitive decline cemented them into his policies - some of which were successful, but ultimately seen as donor pandering. Rejecting Progressive policy in lieu of donor money is the DNC m.o.

The "best economy and jobs growth" is a lie - it's never achievable with parasite capitalism maintaining a growing impoverished class.

Duopoly needs to end.

Trump will cause enough misery to keep people pointing at each other, Democrats are just enablers, imo.

Nothing will change without fundamental effort and less obstruction.

Personally, I don't see this government as necessary. SCOTUS rules, not any elected "President".

O'Dowd is Bill Maher with a uterus.
