The study, conducted before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, shows that Labor and delivery units in America were already in crisis. Doctors in fear of criminal charges for treating women who are having pregnancy complications was not yet happening when the research was conducted for the study.

This trend started long before MAGA. We were discussing the closure of our department in '86 at my first hospital. It didn't close then but did 5 years later.
