Moderators Delete Reddit Thread as Doctors Torch Dead UnitedHealthcare CEO

Doctors in one of the Internet's top medical communities have turned on the murdered UnitedHealthcare (UHC) CEO Brian Thompson in such brutal fashion that Reddit moderators deleted a thread on the killing.

More

According to research by ValuePenguin citing in-network claim data, it "is the worst insurance company for paying claims with about one-third of claims denied."

Comments

The top comment, which received hundreds of supporting upvotes from other users, mocked UHC's notorious track record for refusing to pay out insurance claims and is written as a lengthy, spoof rejection letter from the company.

Addressed to an unnamed applicant"following "a careful review of the claim submitted for emergency services on December 4, 2024"it informs them they are being rejected for coverage because "you failed to obtain prior authorization before seeking care for the gunshot wound to your chest."

"If you would like to appeal the fatal gunshot, please call 1-800-555-1234 with case # 123456789P to initiate a peer to peer within 48 hours of the fatal gun shot," wrote one user.

Another paraphrased the early 20th Century trade union lawyer Clarence Darrow: I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."

Dozens and dozens more expressed similar sentiment.

Coming soon, cartoons of him standing in front of St. Peter and being denied entry into heaven.
Or, only having a 24 hour stay authorized and then kicked downstairs to a lower level of care.

Can you imagine St. Peter telling Brian that he hasn't paid his Heavenly premiums so he can't get the care that he wants?? Giggles

I dunno.

It's a bad sign of how volatile our society is right now that a man's brazen day time murder is garnering widespread cheers and jokes.

I always thought the tipping point of the have nots would come slowly, but it seems to be barreling down on us at a rapidity accelerating pace ...

Yeah, concerning in particular that it appears to be doctors making these jokes.

I have to wonder, though, how many people this CEO killed to turn a [bigger] profit.

Of course, these doctors also made money by performing services, so how much of their anger arises from missing out on some extra cash when the claims were denied?

The average salary for a doctor in the United States in 2023 was $363,000, which is a 3% increase from 2022.

Looks like the top 5 go $512,000 - $558,000.

This dead executive reminds me of a deceased family member. He was such a vile man in life that no one could find anything good to say about him at his funeral. Most people attended simply to make sure that he was dead.

It's a bad sign of how volatile our society is right now that a man's brazen day time murder is garnering widespread cheers and jokes.

The hatred directed at him is a direct result of the anger the bottom 95% of America that suffer under the business model he made millions in compensation off of.

People are fed up with the system.

This dead executive reminds me of a deceased family member. He was such a vile man in life that no one could find anything good to say about him at his funeral. Most people attended simply to make sure that he was dead.

""What has he done with his money?" asked a red-faced gentleman with a pendulous excrescence on the end of his nose, that shook like the gills of a turkey-cock.

"I haven't heard," said the man with the large chin, yawning again. "Left it to his company, perhaps. He hasn't left it to me. That's all I know."

This pleasantry was received with a general laugh.

"It's likely to be a very cheap funeral," said the same speaker; "for upon my life I don't know of anybody to go to it. Suppose we make up a party and volunteer?"

"I don't mind going if a lunch is provided," observed the gentleman with the excrescence on his nose. "But I must be fed, if I make one."

Another laugh.

"Well, I am the most disinterested among you, after all," said the first speaker, "for I never wear black gloves, and I never eat lunch. But I'll offer to go, if anybody else will. When I come to think of it, I'm not at all sure that I wasn't his most particular friend; for we used to stop and speak whenever we met. Bye, bye!""

Most people have this type of relative in their family. My uncle Geenyu was like that. Mom used to say the best gift he ever gave her was the three days off for his funeral.

I could care less about the unkind comments being levied by anonymous posters on the Internet. Anybody can do that.

I understand perfectly well why it happened. Or, at least, assume why it happened since we don't know the killer's motive yet and this would be an understandable one.

Problem is, once the devolution starts it won't stay confined to insurance executives.

I agree.

However, it's significant enough that BCBS backtracked on their absurd policy they announced the day after the shooting.

And with other types of insurances go up and up and people having no choice but to pay because they're a legally captured revenue stream...

-However, it's significant enough that BCBS backtracked on their absurd policy they announced the day after the shooting.

It's hard to say that's a coincidence. I'm not convinced one thing caused the other and most of the claim denial perpetrators are auto insurance companies. That policy they changed I believe could have been a good change that was meant to police MDs vs denying claims to policyholders. I can't say that for sure but it's very possible. changes like that are how companies protect the policyholders often times.

I hope we see some changes in behavior from these companies with regard to ridiculous claim processes and denials.........

"Problem is, once the devolution starts it won't stay confined to insurance executives."

True! There are plenty of other executives who practice the same level of ruthless behavior at their companies. Boeing comes to mind. Once great, now trash. They all get away with it of course. Corporations magically make decisions, not the people that run them.

Notice that list Censored posted. Anthem BCBS, who was the particular BCBS group that made the announcement, appears to be number 3 on the deny deny deny list.

I figure it was when our schools have been shot up repeatedly, little children murdered in classrooms, and Republicans defend the murderers right to bear arms. One option. Another option is when slightly less than half of voting Americans voted for a pathological narcissist/pedophile/rapist/felon to lead our country after watching him trash it last time he was in office.

Anyways, thought and prayers, nothing can be done. One small droplet of evil snuffed in a whole American ocean of it.

OpEd: It Feels Like Chaos Out There

... Yesterday it was South Korea, where there was continuing news that President Yoon may be forced out of office after his attempted power grab, despite the resignation of his Defense Minister. Today, it was France, where a vote of no confidence means the conservative Prime Minister appointed by increasingly unpopular President Macron just 91 days ago will have to resign. Some commentators suggest it was a play staged by Marine Le Pen and her ultra-right wing conservative party, a last ditch measure to give her some hope of becoming president, a position that has eluded her in three elections. Israel's Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, who is in the middle of a corruption trial that has been repeatedly delayed, has been ordered to take the witness stand and is likely to do so, finally, next week. Safe to say, the United States is not the only country that finds itself in political turmoil at the moment.

Today, Trump finally signed a transition agreement with the Justice Department.

That means that going forward, before he makes a nomination he can "submit names for background checks and security clearances."

You might think that Trump has had about enough with the Pete Hegseth debacle, but he spent the afternoon churning out nominations, as well as appointments to positions that do not require Senate confirmation, on Truth Social, including that of convicted felon Peter Navarro to be his Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing. It is not about qualifications; it is about personal loyalty, and it's like watching a slow-moving trainwreck with democracy on the tracks. ...

"Frankly offensive": UnitedHealth CEO responds to "aggressive" media interest in Johnson murder

UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty is appalled by the reaction to the murder of his company's head insurance man Brian Johnson.

The UnitedHealthcare CEO was gunned down in New York City on Wednesday, in a seemingly targeted assassination that was caught on camera. The extensive media coverage and at times gleeful response to the murder on social media were too much for the exec. He called the tone of coverage "frankly offensive" in a video message to employees that was leaked to journalist Ken Klippenstein.

"I'm sure everybody has been disturbed by the amount of negative and in many cases vitriolic media and commentary that has been produced over the last few days, particularly in the social media environment," he shared in the video, which doubled as a warning to employees to keep mum when journalists come calling.

"People are writing things we simply don't recognize [that] are aggressive, inappropriate and disrespectful."

Well, yeah, the wealthy owners of the healthcare industry cannot deny their unfettered approach for profit, apparently regardless of the resulting health of Americans.

While I do not justify this event in any shape manner or form, I will proffer, maybe the wealthy of the Country should focus more upon the well-being of the Americans, and less upon their profits.

[OK, I know I just said something funny ...]

I haven't made any such comments online, but I understand the anger. Corporate healthcare is a joke, a leech on the American consumer. It is hard to be sympathetic here, but vigilantism is unacceptable.

Maybe this will be the change agent, but not likely now that the Trump-grifting train is backing into the station once again.
