... Why it matters: The affected areas span from coast to coast and include tens of millions of people living in two of the most populous states " California and Florida.

- - - Homeowner's insurance rates in some of these areas could start to become unaffordable as climate change fuels an increase in destructive storms.

- - - And if insurers decide to pull back altogether, states will need to step in to take on the risk " which can cost individuals more and offer less coverage. ...

How dare insurance companies have to pay for their client's claims!

That's CEO money!

"Could"?
You're a few years late to that conclusion.

Someone was saying that they expected that these various climate disasters would make MAGA accept climate change.

That same person changed his mind to state that MAGA never would change their minds about climate, but would instead seek to pass laws and jail others for speaking about it.

I think that he's right.

And electing global warming deniers like Trump will help make the South and the Desert Southwest dangerous to live in quite soon.
We are living in a fool's paradise, led by billionaire idiots like Bezos and Musk and Trump.

Fool's paradise: yes. I wouldn't put Bezos and Musk in the class as Trump. Trump truly is an idiot. Musk and Bezos are opportunistic business owners trying to cover their @sses. For Bezos and Musk to build the kind of businesses they have requires that they have an appreciation for science and technology. They had to have surrounded themselves with a lot of smart people. No such thing with Trump.

My home owner and automobile insurance doubled this year. No hurricanes, earth quakes or wild fires, only infrequent tornadoes.

How so?

IOW, if Harris won, how is the South and the Desert Southwest saved? What's not going to happen to those regions if the last election goes the other way?

The fools are the morons who believe Joe Sixpack and his congressman are what stands in the way of mitigating this.

Events like these fires prove there are truly very few folks who truly believe in global warming.

The deniers are everywhere including in the most liberal enclaves of this country.

To deny that makes you a double denier.....LOL

@#9 ... What's not going to happen to those regions if the last election goes the other way? ...

So, your current alias seems to openly admit it has not a clue about climate change.

If the last election had gone the other way, then the US would likely have gone on a path towards a better future regarding climate change.

For example, instead of Pres-elect trump saying, "drill baby drill" to apparently promote fossil fuels, allowing better sources of energy, such as, e.g., wind turbines.

I could go on, but at this point, yer current alias is up ...

What's it got?

@#12 ... Beverly the ------- MAGAT bitch ...

So... I am not the only one here who has noticed a significant change in the nature of the posts here by that, what I now call a, current alias?

Looking back, in the past I had lauded eberly (and, yes, all lower-case seems to be how that alias presented itself to this most august site) for the comments it had posted.

But now, it just seems to be focused more upon disruption than contribution.

imo, of course.

a significant change in the nature of the posts here

Blocking the sewer of the "Nooner" likely just made the ---- back up into the house.

@#16 ... Blocking the sewer of the "Nooner" likely just made the --- back up into the house. ...
[my asterisk]

It seems that way.

And, having to call the local Arc-O-Rooter service recently, well I will say I agree.

Fortunately, the house monitoring system I have flagged the unexpected appearance of water on the basement floor.

So, a minute or two after I flushed the toilet that morning, I know I had a problem to resolve. I got text messages and emails.

Long story short (too late for that?)

The Arc-O-Rooter tech told me that the camera showed tree roots 78 feet into my sewer line, and that he had cleared that blockage.

I do give major credit to that Arc-O-Rooter tech. Yeah, he could have just cleared the blockage, but his talking with me, taking the time to explain things was some I did not expect to occur.

OK, I have digressed, big time. Apologies.

Ref insurers in CA: California passed Prop 103, which prohibited rate increases. The insurance companies said that was fine. We're outta here.
