Trump: Canadians to Be Fingerprinted at Borders April 2025

Trump is preparing a new travel rule that could force Canadians planning to stay in the country for more than 30 days to register their information with the US government and submit to fingerprinting. Effective 11 Apr, affected people would have to create an account with USCIS and schedule an appointment for fingerprinting as part of a background check. Canadian snowbirds began selling their Florida homes before this lunacy because of rising insurance costs. AI calculations suggest that the Sunshine State will lose billions of dollars of lost revenue from these Canadians. Real estate vultures will no doubt be taking advantage of lower condo prices. Trump is treating Canada like an enemy country, not a potential 51st state.

Hi Redial: Years ago I used to drive to Toronto or Montreal with just a driver's license. About 1984, my friends drove up as I slept in the backseat. When I woke up, I was already passed the border. The CBSA officer didn't bother to wake me. Now we are slowly creeping towards a DMZ at our northern border. Thanks Kim Jong Trumpf!

I used to drive to Toronto or Montreal with just a driver's license.

That was all I needed until after 911 then I had to take my passport. I know a lot of people who have property in Montana where they like to spend the summer but it's not a big deal to drive back home for a few days every 29 days to avoid this nonsense. People with property in Florida or Arizona would probably have to fly back, which would be kind of a pain.

Funny anecdote (true):

In the 1960's, country singer Faron Young's tour bus driver took speed and drove all the way from Key West to 20 miles south of the North Dakota border, without sleeping, in February.

They pulled the bus over and switched drivers to get across the border. The driver, a southerner who was "country as homemade soap," crawled in his bunk.

When they got to the border, an immigration officer boarded the bus. He woke the driver, who was sound asleep in his bunk, and shined a flashlight in his face.

"Sir, do you have any ID?," he asked. The driver (remember he was a hick) replied, "'bout what?" "ID" being a hillbilly shortcut for "idea."

The immigration officer proceeded to ask if there were drugs, illegal alcohol, etc on the bus, with negative replies.

Still peeved, the immigration officer asked, "sir, is there pornography on the bus?"

The driver replied, "do you see a record player ANYWHERE on this bus?!!" They refused entry to the hick tour bus driver.

They had to turn the bus around. That hick driver had to spend 2 weeks in a little motel in the middle of nowhere North Dakota (temps below zero during the day, -40 at night) while Young and the band toured Canada. The only supplies he had were a bottle of whiskey and all the snacks that were on the bus. No restaurants or stores nearby.

I think Combover Quisling is more jealous of the way Vanky was eye banging Trudeau at their first meeting. As to this article the same is true of Snowbirds who visit CA. My Dad and his wife have had a nice park model trailer at a 55+ park near Palm Springs for 20 years. He passed last year, and she's now trying to sell it because all her Canadian friends that she hung out with have abandoned the place. It started the day after the election and has picked up steam.

The Canadians were who rescued residential real estate in Lee and Collier counties in 2009-2011. It's a long but easy drive down from Mississauga to Fort Myers or Naples, and banks were just about giving new depositors a condo when new customers opened a $5,000 checking account. Sales were in cash, and TD Bank opened many branches to serve their customers. That so many Canadians would leave Florida after so long there is shameful.

In my visits to Toronto, Montreal and Victoria I've encountered nothing but polite, friendly people and its embarrassing to see other Americans abuse their next door neighbors. The tariffs will hurt Canadians for no reason. I hope the pain is double for every MAGA dork out there. I'll gladly suffer if my Trump-loving countrymen suffer more...

Canada has good relations with China and India... among others. Canada has been working on opening more of its markets with China. China and Mexico also have good relationships... Canada and Mexico... Mexico will pick ex-pats we lose and modernize some of their barrios.

I wouldn't be surprised if China isn't playing a role in this to extract Canada from the US nipple. Putz is probably filling his fawning Trumpanzee's ear with expansionistic bull$#!t... while isolating us.

In Canada, if you are flying to the US, you go through customs at the airport.

Usually in mid March, many college students in Canada fly to AZ or Florida for Spring Break
