I'd love to cut defense spending but not now, because you have China, you have Russia, you have a lot of problems out there," Trump said on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." The president has backed a House GOP budget plan that would increase the military budget by $100 billion and has also ordered the development of a massive new missile defense system for the US, dubbed the "Iron Dome for America," which will come with a huge price tag.
We'll NEVER cut military spending. It's the only way we as Americans feel like we're big gun on the world's stage. Sad to say that but it's the truth.

Over time military spending has decreased as percentage of GDP since WWII.
While government spending increased as percentage of GDP.
