"A spokesperson for the New York Times said the move to expel the paper and other independent news outlets from the Pentagon's press spaces was "a concerning development".

"The Department of Defense has the largest discretionary budget in the government, millions of Americans in uniform under its direction and control of a vast arsenal funded by taxpayers.

The Times is committed to covering the Pentagon fully and fairly. Steps designed to impede access are clearly not in the public interest," the paper added in an email statement.

"Kevin Baron, a former vice-president of the Pentagon Press Association, called the changes "the erasure of journalism at the Pentagon" in a series of posts on X.

Baron said the existing outlets were being

"replaced with fake news partisans like Breitbart, OANN, and NY Post.

And HuffPo (they still exist?) for fake balance. Trump/MAGA's fascist takeover of media coverage of the regime continues."

Censoring the media. Where is Jeff to condemn this hmmmmmmmmmm??

#2 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-02-01 07:29 PM

We should only get Trump's version of the news, and from the outlets that he approves of.

Trump always made it clear what kind of government he was going to deliver. And that's what our voters selected.

Let us call you a wambulance Karen.

Sweet dreams...of your 1933 Germany remake.

Hopefully there are actual patriots somewhere in the armed forces to put a preemptive end to this nightmare you have helped bring to fruition.

GFY Nazi Karen.

Censoring the media.

You really should read the articles before p*****g in the wind. Rotating office space in the Pentagon is not censorship. As the article states: "The moves are largely symbolic as outlets are not losing access to Pentagon briefings, but are in keeping with the Trump administration's plans to mix the access of traditional news outlets with a cohort of non-traditional news outlets, including podcasters, bloggers and TikTokers."

I've disliked the Buffoon since before some of you knew he exists but pick your battles. This is nothing.

#9 | Posted by et_al at 2025-02-01 10:39 PM

Good news is that they didn't lose their press passes. Bad news is that their reporting will be less timely due to office space availability being cut .

@#3 ... We should only get Trump's version of the news, and from the outlets that he approves of. ...

Unfettered adulation is what Pres Trump seems to want.

@#9 ... I've disliked the Buffoon since before some of you knew he exists but pick your battles. This is nothing. ...

Living in the NYC media area, I heard about [citizen] Trump back in the late 1980's.

But it wasn't until the 1990's that I started to develop an opinion on him.

In search of, requiring?, unfettered adulation?

Yeah, the opinion of him I formed in the 1990's still holds.

There are other aspects of my opinion besides that one, fwiw.

That aside, is this latest move by him "nothing?"

I remain to be convinced of that.

It may not be censorship but imo, it definitely is not "nothing."

The media purposely eliminated and minimized all public comment from their " news" when Trump came on the scene in the . All news organizations not that long ago encouraged and offered direct public comment. Huffington and NYT and WAPO etc allowed the public to comment on news. Then they started censoring as did TWITTER. Censorship wrongly gave the media and left political and biased power.

#17 | Posted by Robson at 2025-02-03 10:27 AM

You are correct Robson.

Almost all "news" sources were left leaning.

Now it's bad when we do it..

#18 | Posted by boaz at 2025-02-03 12:20 PM

"Almost all "news" sources were left leaning."

Who's fault is it that republicans have gone so far to the "right" that reality now has a "left leaning bias".

Attacking the Free Press or prohibiting the free exercise of it is not the answer you are looking for. In fact it's unconstitutional.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You may want to reconsider that statement given that trust in the media is at historic all time low.

#20 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-02-03 12:52 PM

That's because the MSM (which fox, OAN, and Newsmax are part of) does a lot of "both sides" crap.

This is what biden should have done after trump's coup attempt- Bar any news organization who spread lies about election fraud, and said in court that they're just entertainment, not news.

Ban news that isn't news.

Trump is doing the flip side - banning any news that DOESNT parrot trump's lies.

So what? The constitution died when we decided to ignore it and allow an insurrectionist to run for president. Quoting it now is like telling fairy tales about when we used to be a democracy.

#24 | Posted by SpeakSoftly at 2025-02-03 01:04 PM

You have a party that's in power that has done everything it can to destroy the truth in America. You have lead so many to believe lies over the truth. You are a PRIME example. And you wonder why those same people don't trust the media that they're told not to trust, and that the "pResident" rails against constantly and in his rallies as "enemies of the people" that should be killed?

Fcck that.

Becoming President is all about getting power. But it's how you use that power that counts.

Republicans control the White House Congress and the Supreme Court.

Stand by and stand back. You just got a little taste of Abuse of that Power. And you haven't seen anything yet.
