Early Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Trump's "Big, Beautiful Tax Bill," a very controversial package.
Before the bill was voted on, one of Georgia's representatives proudly took credit for one part of it.
Around 4 a.m., Rep. Andrew Clyde spoke about a particular section of the bill that would eliminate certain taxes around gun silencers.
"My Democrat colleagues have asked: How did this get in the bill, what was the deal, and who asked for it," Clyde said. "No deal. I believe the speaker with the purest of motives simply wanted to restore a constitutional right. And who asked? Me. I asked."
Clyde later posted on X explaining that the bill originally only removed the $200 transfer tax for suppressors (Meaning the tax added on to the sale). Now, the bill eliminates both the sale and manufacturing tax for suppressors, as well as the registration tax.
