I've been pondering this too. Trump is not nearly intelligent enough to orchestrate and execute this rapid authoritarian strategy to turn America into a dictatorship. There is a man(men) behind the curtain. Sadly Dumpkoff passing away or otherwise being disposed of won't change the Republican leadership from enacting their Nazi playbook. And yes it's a Nazi playbook, mirroring nearly step for step the actions taken by Hitler to establish his dictatorship.

What does the transition look like for the GOP from being the cult of Trump to the being cult of the dictator in waiting? Do they scatter like the wind when the serpent's head is cut off? Or is there even a need for the personality once the guardrails to democracy are destroyed? Even without Orange Adolf I'm afraid the damage may have passed beyond repair and the next dictator in waiting, VP Putz, will no longer need the pull of personality to enact their reign of terror.
