Well Trumpers, I thought he wasn't going to engage in foreign conflicts?

Or is it ok now when it's a war of aggression to steal resources?

Well Trumpers, I thought he (Trump) wasn't going to engage in foreign conflicts?

#1 | Posted by jpw

Only MAGA thought that.

For the rest of us, we always knew that he would go there.

#2 | Posted by Zed at 2025-10-25 08:51 AM

So, without snark (well, maybe a little)...

If MAGA claims to believe in anything, this is your chance to make your values known.

To have any chance to prevent war, you're going to have to oppose Trump.

Or....You can do what we all expect you to do and roll over.

I wish that it was as sane as Trump wanting war for resources.

But I've never thought that Trump is sane.

And now he's going to prove it.

Again.

He wants control of the HUUGE oil fields just offshore, largest found so far on the planet. Then he will say "I lowered the price of gas." He is the bigliest gasbag ever.

#5 | Posted by shoeless at 2025-10-25 09:07 AM

Regardless of what you think about it, saying it's just about wanting resources is an oversimplification on the level of claiming the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were motivated primarily by wanting resources.

The simple reason we face a war of Trump's personal choice in Venezuela is that he is grossly mentally ill.

That's the model you need to understand this, all of what he is doing (including, I hear, building a ballroom with stairs to nowhere, like the Winchester house).

What are Trump's motives? How dark do you want to get?

#7 | Posted by Zed at 2025-10-25 09:23 AM

Okay, so Trump is invading Venezuela to slow the import of Colombian marching powder?

"Well Trumpers, I thought he wasn't going to engage in foreign conflicts?"

Trumpy says a lot of things.

He also said he won't touch the East Wing.

The East Wing was completely demolished.

I am detecting a pattern.

Like the middle east, it's all about oil.

Maduro will blow those oil fields, just like Saddam.

Headline is misleading - should read:

The Epstein Files are preparing for War in Venezuela

#14 | Posted by Angrydad at 2025-10-25 11:16 AM

We may already be at war. But how will we know? The press is no longer allowed into the pentagon.

Coincident?

I think not.

#15 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-10-25 11:50 AM

"Like the middle east, it's all about oil."

You guys like to make fun of maga for their ignorance and stupidity, but your own roses don't pass the smell test. The people who think "everything is about oil" aren't that far apart from those who rant about Soros or Jewish space lasers.

Sentinel is here to do his usual BOTH SIDES! crap.

*drink*

#17 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-10-25 11:52 AM

Haven't seen MAGA out yet to say let's give peace a chance.

#18 | Posted by Zed at 2025-10-25 11:54 AM

So, Trump will conduct air strikes against the mainland of Venezuela and provoke a patriotic war there in which Maduro is stronger than ever.

Like I said. Donald is insane.

#19 | Posted by Zed at 2025-10-25 11:55 AM

I'm not going to think this is serious until the USS Epstein is dispatched to the area.

Trump needs this new Epstein Distraction bigly because sooner or later Moses Mike is going to have to hold, and lose, the vote to release the files.

Plus, we will need to be in a state of war somewhere when the 2028 elections roll around so he can declare a State of Emergency to try to stall them.

#20 | Posted by Corky at 2025-10-25 11:58 AM

Trump claims he's not pursuing "regime change."

Therefore he is obviously pursuing a regime change.

"It is as a show of force, sabre rattling, gunboat policy intended to put pressure on Mr Maduro with the goal of forcing him to step down and convince him to step down and take a golden exit. If that fails emboldening those in his government, who might topple him."
-Brian Finucane, a former state department lawyer who is now senior adviser at the International Crisis Group.

Declaring war could help with the revival of the Alien Enemies Act, last used to intern Japanese, German and Italian nationals during World War Two, to detain and deport Venezuelan nationals en masse.

And yes access to their oil and natural resources.

In the past, Trump has expressed frustration that the U.S. did not get oil after the Iraq invasion, and has suggested keeping oil resources in Syria. Furthermore, Venezuelan officials have reportedly floated proposals, including offering the U.S. a stake in the country's oil and mineral wealth, as a way to appease Washington.

Great! All those cosplaying Proud Lads and ICEes can be on the front lines. No training needed, just like their Russian counterparts. Give them a gun, tell them to advance and remind them deserters, cowards and anyone retreating will be shot. Remind them to forage for their own food ...

#27 | Posted by catdog at 2025-10-25 01:16 PM

Yeah! It's all the same!

One side wants universal healthcare and the other side wants tax cuts for billionaires! It's all the same.

The Trumpf junta is channeling a 19th-century white supremacist movement to dominate nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Championed by "Copperheads" and Confederate Army officers, The Knights of the Golden Circle sought to expand slavery into Mexico and Cuba before their organization finally went defunct. In 1898, the US would go to war with Spain and obtain Puerto Rico and the Philippines anyway, as well as a naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. USMC General Smedley Butler wrote "War is a Racket" after enforcing US corporate interests in the Caribbean.

Last century the "white man's burden" was the rationale for imperial expansion; the Trumpf junta is using drug trafficking as it's casus belli. But the reality is that American drug demand is fueling the illegal trafficking from South America and resource-rich Venezuela is the smallest producer of drugs reaching the US.

No wonder "US Secretary of War" Pete Hegseth summoned the entire galaxy of admirals and generals for a "pep talk" in Quantico and USSOUTHCOM CMDR ADM Alvin Holsey would abruptly resign after his armada vaporized defenseless Venezuelans in the Caribbean Sea.

Sounds like they are painting Maduro as the Saddam Hussein of the West. Is the yellowcake in Peru this time?

After George "W" Bush 'won' in 2000, the late author-intellectual Gore Vidal sniffed about the Republican win: "Hmph. Expect a war or two."

Criminy was he ever spot on.

Now we suffer with Republican warmonger Dummkopf Trumpf in the half-destroyed White House.
