Muslims protesting against LGBTQ+ pride

In recent months, some Muslim communities in Canada and the United States have protested against LGBTQ+ inclusion. Socially conservative Muslims have criticized what they see as growing LGBTQ+ "indoctrination" in schools and society more broadly. In Michigan, a Muslim majority city council banned Pride flags from being flown on city property. In Ottawa, young children at an anti-LGBTQ+ protest stomped on Pride flags.

Good luck with that .....

I wonder what they have to say about the Queers for Palestine crowd?

Typical right wing religious nutters spreading hatred. Not surprisingly though.

To repeat from another related Retort post:

LGBTQ community felt 'betrayal' at Muslim council voting to remove Pride flags from city buildings

Former council member Catrina Stackpoole, who identifies as gay, was quoted saying, "We welcomed you," adding "We created nonprofits to help feed, clothe, find housing. We did everything we could to make your transition here easier, and this is how you repay us, by stabbing us in the back?"

ROFL! Muslims hate libs, their bleeding heart causes, and their pronouns more than even the craziest of Talibaptists.

The Chickens for KFC ain't seen nothing yet.

But seriously, could Redial or LauraMohr tell me how my images mess up the format.

Everything looks normal on my end, so genuinely curious what the problem is.

"Socially conservative Muslims have criticized what they see as growing LGBTQ+ "indoctrination" in schools and society more broadly."

Fanatical Muslims have the same values as MAGA Republicans?

What a koinkydink!

#8 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-08-25 08:31 AM

Conservatives are a problem in every religion. Is this obvious fact supposed to be considered new or shocking?

#9 | Posted by qcp at 2025-08-25 08:43 AM

No difference between these Muslims and America's Evangelical Christians that are all over Africa pushing imprisonment and death for LGBTQ+ people. Why right here in the US the MAGAts are banning crosswalks painted with LGBQT+ colors, books that dare even touch on the subject, and we have a Supreme Court that wants to reverse gay marriage and gay rights. Sounds like the Canadian aswipe Muslims and the Sharia Supremes on SCOTUS have a lot in common. Them and the Evangelicals and MAGAts.

Funny that with all the hatred being fomented right here in the "good ol' USA" - no need to go to Canada to see religious fukcwads being religious fukdwads.

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is myself, but I do know that frequently the page margins get messed up making it difficult to read on a phone. PC screens not so much.

Headlines are restricted to 60 characters. I'm assuming that is because that is what the normal page limits are, and to keep headlines all on one line.

In the body of a post, there are no restrictions. If someone posts a 60+ string of characters with no spaces (think STD with his "BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" nonsense), it seems like the site shrinks the font to fit it on one line since it can't word wrap it.

Posting large images does the same thing. When that happens, every post on that page winds up with a tiny font until the offending post eventually scrolls off. It really makes a mess out of the Recent Comments page.

Only perhaps to those liberals wearing rose-tinted glasses thinking championing Muslim rule will result in the world holding hands and singing "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

Muslims are far more conservative than most other religions. Looking forward to the Shocked Pikachu face on those liberals when Muslims enact their version of Sharia rule once they can call the shots, like the below:

LGBTQ community felt 'betrayal' at Muslim council voting to remove Pride flags from city buildings

Former council member Catrina Stackpoole, who identifies as gay, was quoted saying, "We welcomed you," adding "We created nonprofits to help feed, clothe, find housing. We did everything we could to make your transition here easier, and this is how you repay us, by stabbing us in the back?"

It gets funnier every time I read it.

"Muslims are far more conservative than most other religions."

Are you saying homophobia is a conservative value?

#13 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-08-25 10:23 AM

The problem Snoofy, is how you are defining "homo"phobia"".

People for the most part are not homophobic. They just don't agree with it or accept it.

Doesnt mean they are "phobic".

It's that type of disingenuousness that hurts the liberal cause.

I see... Thanks for the feedback.

So larger images seem to cause problems. I wish I knew what the max pixel size was to avoid that issue.

Does this image mess things up? (Set at 320 pixels max)

#14 | Posted by boaz

What do you mean, "They just don't agree with it?"
How can you disagree with homosexuality?
Are they saying homosexuality... does not exist?
No, they're saying they don't want gays to exist in their society.
Just like anti-Semites don't want Jews to exist in their society.

Back to your comment: What term do you prefer to describe people who want to criminalize being homosexual? Since homophobic doesn't work for you.

Now, mot all Jews are Semites, and not all Semites are Jews

Do you have a problem with Anti-Semitic meaning Jew Hater, Like homophobic means Gay Hater?

#14 | Posted by boaz

I'm not really seeing the difference as a practical matter.

But I also think you're wrong.

Most of the anti gay rhetoric you guys spew is in fact rooted in fear.

You project your fear into what the gays will do to the children.

You fear children being turned gay.

And that's homophobia.

"People for the most part are not homophobic. They just don't agree with it or accept it."

^
Except...

That's actually the dictionary definition of homophobia.

homophobia
noun
1. Fear, hatred, or mistrust of lesbians and gay men.
2. A strong dislike or fear of homosexuals, especially to an unreasonable degree.
3. Fear, dislike, or hate of homosexuals.

Well, right now we're talking about how your new BFFs don't care much for you people. And how you're being useful idiots aiding the rise to power of people who will turn on you at their first opportunity.

Voting against your own self-interests, like the blue-collar MAGATs handed power to a corrupt billionaire who raises their taxes while cutting his own.

#25 | Posted by censored at 2025-08-25 11:25 AM

"No one fears homo's."

Yes, some really do fear homos.

Despite this surge from this faction of people...I think we've made progress in this area.

but I remember candid conversations not all that long ago between people expressing their "fear" of homos recruiting kids to be gay.

If Boaz and his Muslim friends weren't afraid of The Gheys then they wouldn't care about them. They wouldn't actively work to prohibit them from living in freedom and liberty. They wouldn't try and legislate their behavior and control them. They wouldn't waste their time on a total non-threat.
