Army National Guard Soldiers on Trash Duty in Wash DC

A full busload of National Guard members were seen Tuesday morning picking up trash around Lafayette Park, just outside of the White House.

National Guard troops were deployed in D.C. to support federal law enforcement and local police.
But in recent days, those orders have expanded to encompass "beautification" tasks such as trash removal and groundskeeping. Service members may work on removing graffiti, too. https://wapo.st/469jcUi [image or embed]

You have some of the trashiest and poverty ridden towns in America with some of the highest crime rates in the country.

Americans don't have much pride in keeping America beautiful. Most Americans believe their obligation to pick up trash ends at their property line -- if they feel that obligation at all.
