Google admits censorship under Biden

Google admitted earlier this week that its COVID-era censorship policies were enacted at the explicit behest of the Biden Administration ... This new policy was announced in response to an inquiry by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who asked Google for information about moderation decisions the company made during the Biden years. In response, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, said in a statement that: "Senior Biden administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not violate its policies. While the company continued to develop and enforce its policies independently, Biden administration officials continued to press the company to remove non-violative user-generated content."

Comments

In Big tech the first exposure of this was through Twitter. Then Zuckerberg described it. Now Google / YouTube.

JPW and Danforth have constantly scolded me that nothing of the sort ever happened. Hopefully at least one of them will weigh in on this thread.

Google Says Biden Admin Pressured Company To Remove Content
www.yahoo.com

... Senior officials in the Biden administration, including some White House officials, "conducted repeated and sustained outreach" and "pressed" Google- and YouTube parent-company Alphabet "regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not violate [Alphabet's] policies," the company revealed yesterday. ...

But that does beg the question ... why is MAGA apparently so against assuring the health of Americans?

Asked differently, what problem does MAGA have against Americans living?

JPW and Danforth have constantly scolded me that nothing of the sort ever happened. Hopefully at least one of them will weigh in on this thread.

How you could possibly think that's equivalent to threatening to pull licenses, extorting money from companies unless they bow to Trump's dictates"while he openly brags about the cash he's raking in from those giving in to his demands"is beyond comprehension. I honestly don't even know how to respond to that.

#11 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-26 10:32 PM

The " in there, should be ,.

" How you could possibly think that's equivalent to threatening to pull licenses"

I guess I'd point to actions and results. OAN and Newsmax (I've never once looked at either outlet) were cancelled on non public outlets at the behest of the Biden admin. All of Big Tech conspired to kill the Parler app in what should have been prosecuted as anti trust violation. Then the admitted censorship regimes enacted by Twitter, Facebook and now Google under jawboning by the Biden admin.

I do agree that Trump threatening to pull licenses and the comments made by his FCC head and absolutely Bondi's comments about hate speech are absolutely terrible and unacceptable.

#13 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-09-26 10:40 PM

Yav,

When I mentioned Danforth and JPW it was solely about their constant drumbeat that none of these things ever happened. I wasn't attempting to draw any equivalencies. Nevertheless , I'm glad you broached the subject. It's important.

An opinion piece...
What did they censor? (Don't admit it was fake doctors giving fake dangerous medical advice)
How did they press the company (Don't admit it was requests without threats or coercion)

Typical Stupid Jeff falling for everything. Is this idiot even allowed out of the house on his own?

Youtube Fake Doctor: "You should drink Bleach to cure COVID!"
Biden Admin: "Google, you should take this down this video. We don't want people drinking bleach."
Jeff: "CENSORSHIP!!! BIDEN IS EVIL!"

Kimmel: "Republicans are lying about the shooter to score political points. There's tons of evidence and even the DOJ confirmed it."
Trump Admin: "Disney, take down ALL of the Kimmel show or we'll review your license and block your merger and destroy you!"
Jeff: "Eh. Biden is the REAL censor."

Jeff, you're a joke.

#18 | Posted by Sycophant at 2025-09-26 11:38 PM

"Jeff, you're a joke."

Now ... be fair.

Jeff also condemned weaponizing the DOJ ... until Trump stated aloud he was going to weaponize the DOJ. Since then he's been carrying water for the cause.

And he SCREECHED about Constitutional rights ... until Trump denied folks due process. Since then he's pretended the Constitution doesn't mean ALL people/persons when it uses the words people and persons.

Plus, he was foursquare AGAINST Executive Orders, until Trump started ruling by EO's. Now, he's mum on the subject.

And he ABSOLUTELY HATED the deficits ... until Trump wanted to borrow trillions in new debt to give tax cuts away to billionaires. He's been mute since its first incarnation, all the way through the second $5 Trillion burn.

Give credit where credit is due.

Or blame.

@#66 ... To the extent that theories positing Covid was engineered and foisted on the world as a lab leak ...

The CIA believes COVID most likely originated from a lab but has low confidence in its own finding (January 2025)
apnews.com

... The CIA now believes the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic most likely originated from a laboratory, according to an assessment that points the finger at China even while acknowledging that the spy agency has "low confidence" in its own conclusion.

The finding is not the result of any new intelligence, and the report released Saturday was completed at the behest of the Biden administration and former CIA Director William Burns. It was declassified and released Saturday on the orders of President Donald Trump's pick to lead the agency, John Ratcliffe, who was sworn in Thursday as director.

The nuanced finding suggests the agency believes the totality of evidence makes a lab origin more likely than a natural origin.

But the agency's assessment assigns a low degree of confidence to this conclusion, suggesting the evidence is deficient, inconclusive or contradictory. ...
