Trump says He has to Start Using a 'new word' -- 'affordability'

Trump's former political adviser told POLITICO in an exclusive interview that the president plans to talk a lot more about about the cost of living as we turn in the new year.

Well, yeah. Pres [then candidate] Trump ran on dropping costs on day one.

And he has failed (miserably?) in that task.


And, if I may be so bold to add, Mayor-elect Mamdani has a similar hill that needs to be climbed. But let's wait a year or so before we make a judgment on that one.

For the nonce, we have Pres Trump's track record to talk about.

And it is not looking good.

Up till now, it's been party politics. What ever trump wants, they are all for. The Dems have had no say in the matter as all has been decided without consulting them or inviting their input. It's been a one way street, with Dems being told our way or the highway.

You can lie and gaslight all you want, hide the data, and misrepresent what it says or means. What you can not hide, is when average Joe citizen goes to buy food, or pay the bills. When it hits the wallet there's no hiding the real impact by trying to change the data or misrepresenting it. So Joe citizen is not fooled.

Want to see politicians get political religion? Threaten their continued political aspirations for continuing to be a politician from voter anger. Suddenly attitudes and what they are for inspire miraculous change. The Repubs should have been able to see this coming from a long ways away. But they were so meekly accepting whatever trump wanted. Now they see the price they are to pay in the upcoming election year. The voters are more than just upset at what they've done, they are angry and voting in a way that shows it. No matter how it is papered over in statements from the Repubs claiming otherwise, the votes speak as to what the public wants.

I was at the grocery store earlier this evening and my wife pointed out to me that the cost of a regular size box of graham crackers was nearly $6 and the "family size" box was almost $8. I laughed when I saw the price of two pieces of frozen french bread pizza was $5.50 and that was on sale.
Trump supporters may be willing to believe he's ended these imaginary wars in countries they've never heard of. They may not see the direct connection between Trump and his business partners that he has pardoned. They might even be able to convince themselves that the white house really did need a ballroom but the one lie from Trump that they won't be able to swallow is that $7/lb for hamburger is affordable.

Mamdani didn't promise affordability on Day 1. Only a sucker would believe FDT would lower costs on Day 1, because it's obvious that FDT a) doesn't give a rat's donkey about Americans and b) because he is an incompetent buffoon without even the framework of a plan to make anyone better off except himself and the billionaires he's trying to impress.

All the furloughed government employees can't afford anything.

Nor can the tens of millions of Americans affected by higher ACA premiums and hungry kids because of the SNAP shutdown.

He and his grifting family have influence peddled their way to untold billions, so I doubt that anyone in the Trump gang need worry about how to pay for Thanksgiving dinner, or paying the rent/taxes on any of the many homes they have.
We are about to find out what life in the Great Depression was like, unless we really do replace the Republican Party with the Democrats to get things done. One has to wonder just how the corrupt federal Supreme Court will rule over tariffs, as if they have to be paid back...economic disaster, but If they are allowed to stand, more Trumpian grifting manipulation of markets and former allies.
