A specialized laboratory examining the brain of the gunman who committed Maine's deadliest mass shooting found profound brain damage of the kind that has been seen in veterans exposed to repeated blasts from weapons use.

I have a friend who, as a kid, refused the soccer coach's instructions to head balls. He went on to medical school and is now a licensed M.D.

I, on the other hand, repeatedly banged my head against lamp posts. And here I am.

The GOP Supreme Court says people with profound brain damage must have the right to bear arms.

Suck it, liberals.

I'll bet Fat Donnie Loser scores high on the drain damaged scale. Adderall ain't for Octogenarians.

My father had brain damage from blasts and machine gun fire from his time in Vietnam. It contributed to his occasional aphasia in his 60s and eventually, dementia, diagnosed 5 years before he passed away at 72 in early 2019. My mother and I went through a lot trying to get him properly diagnosed and then cared for. Hence my tendency on this site to be vehemently anti-interventionist when it comes to foreign policy.

Dirty Hollywood secret: Bruce Willis incurred brain damage in part from his repeated discharge of firearms during filming throughout his long Hollywood career. THAT is why he is in the condition he is in now, but you will never hear that from anyone other than his daughters (hint, hint). You find these things out when you visit places like the House ear Institute (out in LA) and see (and talk with) famous people and their families walking through the facility, who are there just trying to make sense of their altered mental states after significant hearing loss and hyperacusis caused by (or exacerbated by) explosions/gunfire.

Kiefer Sutherland is also on his way to that same diagnosis. Saw him there as well. Maybe he's battling the same thing.

So...how many hundreds of other Hollywood types discharged far more firearms and yet still didn't develop dementia?
(Explains Wendy Williams, eh?)

Stick to your day job. Toilets need cleaning.

I don't know Ed, I didn't speak with them. Maybe you can take time off from organizing your dessicated ---- collection and mink-oiling your ------ belt to take a poll.

Militarism leads to these sort of outcomes.

Stop the Madness. Ban the Bomb.

Reduce the Pentagon budget 60% for starters.

Sorry to hear about your father's struggles, Pumpkinhead. Vietnam left a lot of suffering in its wake.

More than half of my extended family are military, police and firefighters. Most of us have hearing loss from firearm and blast exposure, not to mention sirens and radio squelch.. Some of us have PTSD. Absolutely none of us has brain damage or dementia. Not saying it doesn't happen. Most of my hearing loss has been post retirement, and it's my own fault for using power tools without hearing protection.

As to Hollywood actors, they aren't/shouldn't be firing live ammo.

Explains Boaz.
And most of us blamed his dad for using his head for batting practice.

Regardless of how he'd like us to believe he was like a WWII soldier running into machine gun fire, BOAZ actually spent his 20 years staring at computer screens. AFTER we paid for his college education. Any claims he makes to the contrary are lies. He got his tax free combat pay in Afghanistan, but he was never in any danger ... at all.
