Pentagon Confirms First Successful AI Controlled Dogfight

The US Air Force is putting AI in the pilot's seat. In an update on Thursday, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) revealed that an AI-controlled jet successfully faced a human pilot during an in-air dogfight test carried out last year.

That's going to be a wrap on the human pilot. No way you'll be able to turn fight with something that doesn't black out.

Exactly. The Zero was dominant until the US got their hands on an intact one and found out it was was made of rice paper and toothpicks.

Once they started fielding faster planes loaded with .50s and armour the Zero was toast.

Waste of cash. Dogfights are a myth in the age of drones. Missiles move 4x faster- who needs a dogfight?

AI fighter planes are just drones. Actually they are robots. Robots with wings.

Like AI cars. Robots on wheels.

Once they learn to reproduce and provide power for themselves we are screwed.

The Singularity takes one step closer.

The idea of a multi million dollar machine spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly just so you can fight one other person in another multi million dollar machine is grotesque.

Imagine if this technology can be applied to our country's fleet of A-10 Warthogs, in Ukraine. No pilots to train or put at risk, fearsome yet aged weapons, great cover for ground forces and the prospect of dead Russkies left, right and center. You're welcome ...
