Texas Congressman Won't Stop Wearing Combat Infantryman Badge that Was Revoked

More than a month after a news report revealed that the Combat Infantryman Badge Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, wears on his lapel was revoked since he was never eligible for the award to begin with, the congressman refuses to take the pin off.

Stolen Valor is pathetic.

Yes he needs to take the award off. That's a very specific award. It's like me wearing it as a signal officer. He was civil affairs. He shouldn't be wearing it.

As to the "other countries" comment, many Americans serve in our allies militaries. But since most of you never served, I wouldn't expect you to know that.

Boaz, don't take that 'holier than thou' attitude just because you were in
the military. Millions serve America in other ways. Some serve as its eyes.
Some serve as its ears. Some attempt service in government. It's not just
people who get shot at that serve the country.

The military SHOULD be honored, and I think are, by most Americans.
But others serve the country EVERY DAY, without a word of thanks or a
'thankyou for your service'.

But you are right in one thing. That man needs to stop being a liar and
a fraud and take that medal off.

The U.S. military recruits around 5,000 green card holders every year. The military is also accepting foreigners, with temporary student and tourist visas, who have special skills. Once the non U.S. citizens enter military service they will become eligible for expedited U.S. citizenship. Since 2001, more than 92,000 foreign-born service members have obtained citizenship while serving the U.S. military.
