For over a decade, business was booming in Hollywood, with studios battling to catch up to new companies like Netflix and Hulu. But the good times ground to a halt in May 2023, when Hollywood's writers went on strike.

Hollywood forgot that their primary role was entertainment and not politics and not injecting a woke culture. Instead of liking them as cultural heroes much of America wants nothing to done with them. Go woke go broke is the outcome.

Movie ticket prices are killing 'Hollywood'.
Simple supply and demand. Went to the theatre
while on vacation w my son down in mtns of VA.
We went to watch Beetlejuice II, before we went
back to our cabin. They wanted $17 a ticket.

I said, "Naw, we will wait 2 months and watch it on
cable." Thirty-four bucks for 2 tickets with NO drinks
and NO popcorn! Are you fricking kidding me? The theatre
industry is killing Hollywood. End of story...

My sentiments exactly.

I haven't been to a movie theater in well over 10 years, because of exorbitant prices. Just wait several months or so; it'll be streaming online somewhere.

It's been years of trying to latch on to past success with new, awful remakes or sequels/prequels.

And don't get me started on the Marvel trash.

So say what you wish about the validity of my comments (#1) , but it was Hollywood that made all their own decisions, such as injecting politics and their propaganda into their "entertainment". That old adage of mixing politics with business goes along with go woke go broke. These people are pretenders and fools that had too much influence and made way too much $$$$. The left never knows the difference between reality and pretending until they are bankrupt. The crux of it always goes along with leftism and zero common sense.

I agree the price of a ticket is crazy. On my road trip, I took my kids and wife to one of those dinner and a movie places, and it was close to $200.

Some of my feeling is the Stars over exposed themselves, they shouldn't be political or even in the papers for divorces and other events.

The PDiddy situation is just a perfect back drop for this problem.

The other thing is there is little to no originality, just rehashing and putting minorities in roles in the rehashes really dampens enthusiasm.

Finally I haven't seen anything I want to see, there are no RomComs worth a damn, and Spy movies are terrible these days.

Anyhow, Hollywood appears dead it's sad, but it is what it is.

I also remember talking about books with friends as work, this has also disappeared.

There are INDUSTRIES built around "stars" being overexposed. The National Enquirer being just ONE of very, very many. TMZ and E come to mind as well.

Stop limiting yourself; today's fare is mostly crap.

Go through the AFI Top 100 list. If you really want to have fun while learning, watch in chronological order.

If you'd rather do the Cliff Notes, start with The Searchers, and Citizen Kane.

Once you're done, add Rope, Paths of Glory, The Man Who Would Be King, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Pawnbroker.

You'll thank me later.

When Mr Heston was so pro-NRA and was the head of the NRA for years, I did not dis him, saying he overexposed himself.

This might be taking your post a little too literally, but soundtracks are by far the most frequently listened to music on my spotify, from movies, TV shows, video games...all of it.

No lyrics (usually...preferably). Crafted to compliment or steer emotion and perceptions, sometimes subtly or even noticeably.

A significantly underappreciated genre of music IMO.

The first few.

Then it became over done and many of them performed very poorly.

I started to watch one on a flight once. Turned it off and stared at cloud tops after ten minutes. It was stupid and really just plain awful.
