"I can't think of anything that would be this order of magnitude," said the group's senior policy director, Marc Goldwein, about the perceived effect a Trump presidency would have. Among the Trump policies that concern the committee are promises that Social Security recipients would pay no federal income tax on their benefits. Currently, 40 percent of beneficiaries pay taxes, which go directly back to fund Social Security.

Good. Give the old folks voting for him EXACTLY what they want. No more Social Security.

At least George W tried to privatize it. Trump will go one better and get rid of Social Security altogether. He hates social programs. The less for everybody else, the more for the GOP's future oligarchs.

Here is a great example of how partisan politics is hurting America...thank you for posting.

"Deporting undocumented immigrants, many of which have payroll taxes taken from their wages, would cost millions of dollars, the report said, while plans to put tariffs on imports could also hurt Social Security."

What they completely ignore is that SS wouldn't be in this mess if they hadn't pilfered it over the decades. If they hadn't, we wouldn't need undocumented immigrant taxes. Make no mistake, the SS problem is 100% caused by politicians, not because of any specific demographic of people being taxed or not.

Also, what they don't add in context is how much is spent on vetting and caring for undocumented immigrants the moment they step foot in America. You can ignore it all you want and claim that no tax funds are spent on this but it doesn't change reality. SS may lose funds but many other areas of our economy would stop hemorrhaging money. I have no expectation that politicians will then use it to make up for the SS difference and other programs that need help but again, it's the politicians doing this...on both sides...for many decades.

I appreciate the comments but I think an honest evaluation of the economic ideas and the actual inevitable consequrnces would be and what that woulf mean for millions of Americans who depend on social security. The utter cruelty of his ideas are breathtaking!

Cannot not find online that those Soc Sec recipients who must pay taxes, that those taxes go to Soc Sec, so unless someone here can show otherwise, I do believe that those monies just go into the General fund, not Soc Sec. You're more that welcome to proceed otherwise.

'Cannot not find online that those Soc Sec recipients who must pay taxes, that those taxes go to Soc Sec"

My guess is it's part of the equation keeping it afloat.

Also, the folks who need this the most (the ones living on social security and little else), are already getting it: you usually don't pay income tax on social security until you have $25K or more of income; $30K for a married couple.

Ultimately, this would be a middle-and upper class tax cut.

Perhaps the most memorable line of the speech came when Roosevelt described forces which he labeled "the old enemies of peace: business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering." He went on to claim that these forces were united against his candidacy; that "They are unanimous in their hate for me " and I welcome their hatred."

It really all comes down to this question; do you know who Gen. Smedlt Butler was? Do you know why he was importanr back then but also todaSo you can Google it and learn something or not, that's your choice but just don't come here pretending to know what you are talking about because you don't.

Believing someone who has failed at just about every business he tried and declared bankruptcy six times (even after being propped up by NBC) is a good choice to lead the country is delusional.

Just look at the train wreck he made four years ago.

10,000,000 jobs lost.

600,000 Americans dead.

Dow plummeted.

Massive debt.

The myth that the GOP is better for the economy is just that..a myth.

Yeah sure ... that's exactly what "boomers" are saying.

But it does sound like a blissful relief from the whining.

I remember when I was pissed about the world my parents left me.

Then I grew up and realized. I realized that it's always been that way. It's not my parents fault either. Boomers were just trying to survive just like you. Just like me. Every generation (yes even yours!) can make a difference and the world a slightly better place.

If they get off their arses, stop whining about it, and get out there and do something about it.

"Don't boo, Vote!"
